Kawasaki has been spotted testing the KL230 S which will take on the likes of Hero XPulse 200V, and possibly the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 if Kawasaki decides to price around it.

The Kawasaki KLX230 S is a dual-sport bike, designed for both city streets and off-road adventures. In the spy shots, we can its off-road capabilities are highlighted by features like a raised front fender, handlebar brace, single-piece seat, and under-seat exhaust. The bike is equipped with wire-spoke wheels and dual-purpose tires. Retro elements include circular rear-view mirrors, while the bike’s modern design features a polygonal LED headlamp. Moreover, we can see the LCD Digital Cluster on the bike.

The KLX230 S boasts 37 mm telescopic long-travel front forks with rubber gaiters and a Uni-Trak linkage system with a single shock and adjustable spring preload at the rear. The bike rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear tires. Braking is handled by 240 mm and 220 mm petal disc brakes at the front and rear, respectively, with dual-piston and single-piston calipers. Standard dual-channel ABS enhances safety. With a ground clearance of 239 mm and a seat height of 843 mm, the bike is well-suited for diverse terrains.
Powering the KLX230 S is a 233cc, 4-stroke single, SOHC, air-cooled engine, likely delivering around 20 bhp and 20 Nm, paired to a 6 Speed transmission.
The KLX230 S appears production-ready, though its launch may be delayed as Kawasaki adjusts its supply chain and production facilities in Pune. This model could become the third Kawasaki bike to be locally produced in India, following the Ninja 300 and W175.
