Kia Carens has got a new variant, the Luxury (O) that is priced at Rs. 17 lakh and goes up to Rs. 17.70 lakhs.
Kia launches a new Luxury (O) variant for the Carens at Rs. 17.00 lakh and goes up to Rs. 17.70 lakh, which is Rs. 81,000 more than the Luxury variant and the Luxury Plus variant starts at Rs. 17.54 lakh. The Luxury (O) variant is positioned them between the Luxury and Luxury Plus. It will only have Automatic Transmission option and no Manual Transmission and will be available as 7-seater variant only. It gets sunroof and ambient lighting which changes with the driving modes feature over the Luxury variant. However, it doesn’t get the Bose’s premium 8-speaker sound system, ventilated seats, and paddle shifters which the Luxury Plus variant has.
The Luxury (O) has features such as automatic climate control, height adjustable driver seat, rear AC vents, cruise control, voice commands, connected car tech, leather seats and steering wheel, rear wipers, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, LED headlights and taillights, and other Luxury features as well. In addition it has sunroof, and ambient lighting that changes depending on the driving mode you’re driving on, are the two additional features the Luxury variant misses out.
Then there is the 10.25-inch touchscreen Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four speakers, two tweeters, and five USB-C charging port spread across the three rows. In safety, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill assist, hill descent control, Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), front and rear parking sensors, reverse parking camera, and ISOFIX anchorages.

Kia had recently updated the Carens with the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 157 bhp and 253 Nm of torque paired to a 7-speed DCT Transmission which is the same as the one offered with Hyundai Verna as well. Then there is 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 114.41 bhp and 250 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed Automatic Transmission with 16.8 km/l fuel efficiency.
The Kia Carens rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, and Maruti Suzuki XL6. However, the Carens is more expensive than the Maruti’s both models, but it has far more features than both of them with only missed out 360-degree camera feature.
