Kia Motors India, even before the completion of one year of entering the Indian market has become one the best selling car brands in the nation.With just two cars in the lineup, they are gaining a lot of popularity in the market.In the month of February, the South Korean carmakers registered a total sales of 15,644 units which is highest for Kia since the launch of Kia Seltos in August 2019.
In the first month, they sold a total of 6,236 units and as the months passed by the monthly sales grew really rapidly.In January 2020 when Carnival MPV was launched, the carmakers got total sale of 15,450 units with Seltos along grabbing 15,000 units and in this month, the sales have got even more higher with 15,644 units sold, which translates into 194 more sales than the previous month.In this 7 months, with only two cars, Kia Motors have sold 76,588 units.While Kia Seltos is averaging at 15,000 units, the Carnival MPV is consistent at 400 to 500 units which is a great number for a vehicle of this segment and price bracket.
The immense popularity of these cars in the Indian market is due to perfection in all the aspects.Both the cars are highly loaded, has got premium interior and striking exterior design.Kia Seltos which is booming up the segment comes with a variety of engine options including 1.5 L petrol producing 114 BHP and 144 NM with 6 Speed MT and 7 Step CVT, 1.4 L turbo GDI petrol with 6 Speed MT and 7 DCT with output figures of 138 BHP and 242 NM.While the diesel makes 114 BHP and 250 NM with availability of 6 Speed MT and AT.All these engines were BS VI compliant right from the day of launch.
Kia Motors will bring a new car to India every 6 months.Next car by the South Korean carmakers will be a sub compact SUV which was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.Sonet will be the name of Hyundai Venue rival by Kia for India.Like the Seltos and Carnival, this sub4 metre SUV will also be loaded and will get premium interiors as well.
Upfront, it gets LED Headlamps with LED Daytime running lamps, tiger nose front grille, 16 inch stylish alloy wheels, big size roof rails while the main highlight of this sub compact SUV will be the long and sleek connected LED tail lamps.Inside, it will get the option of black and beige dual tone interior or beige cabin theme.Along with this, it also features biggest in class 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Talking about engine options, it will be available with a variety of powertrains including 2 petrol and 1 Diesel engine option.The 1.0 L 3 cylinder GDI turbo petrol engine derived from Venue makes 118 BHP and 172 NM.It will come with 6 Speed MT / 7 Speed DCT transmission.The 1.2 L petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission will be on offer with 83 BHP and 114 NM.1.5 litre 4 cylinder diesel unit which recently was introduced in Venue will also make to Kia Sonet and will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
It will get features like front ventilated seats, 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, cooled glovebox, automatic air conditioning and rear ac vent, air purifier, Bose sound system, UVO connect, 16 inch alloys, LED headlamps and tail lamps, leather seat upholstery, push start stop button with smart keyless entry, cruise controls and 6 airbags, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, reverse parking camera, auto dimming IRVM, tyre tronics, rear defogger, hill start assist, electronic stability control among others.
Kia Sonet will be launched in India between the price bracket of Rs. 7 Lakhs and Rs. 11 Lakhs (Ex Showroom Price).When launched, it will find competition with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport, Honda WR-V and soon to be launched Nissan sub compact SUV and Renault Kiger.
