Kia is preparing a new lifestyle SUV which will be positioned between the upcoming Sonet Facelift, and the Seltos. Recently, they had filed a trademark under the nameplate, Clavis. It’s being positioned as rugged, tall-stance lifestyle SUV with boxy design. The Clavis will be getting multiple Engine Options like the 1.2 L 4 Cylinder Naturally-Aspirated Petrol, 1.0 L 3 Cylinder Turbo Petrol, and the 1.5 L 4 Cylinder Diesel Engine. It’ll have multiple gearbox options – 5 Speed MT, 6 Speed MT / AT / IMT, and 7 Speed DCT.

Since, Kia is positioning the SUV above the Sonet, it’ll have features like 360 Surround View Camera, ventilated seats, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, 10.25-inch dual displays – Infotainment System, and Digital Instrument Cluster, Air Purifier, LED Projector Headlamps, Powered Driver Seat, Level 2 ADAS, and so much more.
Moreover, it’s entirely possible the Clavis could be inspired from their own lifestyle SUV called the Kia Ray (sold in South Korea). It could have full-folding seats for all the seats including the driver seat. Let’s say you decide to go camping and reach your destination, you can fully fold all the seats to make it your bed, and take a long rest. Moreover, it could more importantly feature sliding doors for the SUV making it the only SUV to have this feature.
Kia is looking to create its own segment again with the Clavis and just like the Carnival, it’ll have no rivals on launch. The Clavis will also spawn an EV powertrain which will likely launch in 2026. The all-new Kia Clavis is expected to be unveiled at the end of 2024 with launch expected to take place in the first half of 2025.
