Kia is developing a New Rs. 9 Lakh SUV especially for the Indian Market that consists of more space and features over the Sonet.
Kia has been spotted multiple times testing new SUV that will help them fill the gap between the Sonet and the Seltos. The SUV will feature multiple powertrains while also sharing elements with the Sonet and the Seltos.

Kia Clavis: Exterior
The Kia Clavis exemplifies the brand’s latest Opposites United design philosophy. Its exterior is characterized by a tall stance, a robust upright hood, and an aggressive front grille. The Clavis stands out with diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels, with an option for 17-inch wheels for those seeking a more dynamic look. With dimensions likely around 4.2 meters in length, the Clavis promises enhanced practicality compared to the Sonet, offering a more spacious interior and larger boot capacity.
Kia Clavis: Interior
Step inside the Clavis, and you’re greeted with a blend of luxury and cutting-edge technology. The interior features seamlessly integrated dual 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and a fully digital instrument console, reminiscent of the Seltos. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity keep you connected on the go. The dual-tone dashboard, a new 4-spoke steering wheel inspired by international Kia models, and a panoramic sunroof add to the premium feel. The cabin is available with full white or full black leatherette upholstery, ensuring a luxurious experience.
Kia Clavis: Powertrains
The Kia Clavis is expected to offer the same engine options as the Sonet, catering to a variety of driving preferences:
- 1.2 L Naturally Aspirated Petrol with a 5-speed manual transmission
- 1.0 L Turbo Petrol with options for a 6-speed iMT, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DCT
- 1.5 L Diesel with options for a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DCT
Additionally, the electric version of the Clavis will feature a battery pack likely between 40 – 50 kWh, offering a range of approximately 450 – 500 KM.
Kia Clavis: Features
The Clavis is packed with features designed to enhance comfort, safety, and convenience. The 8-speaker Bose sound system provides an immersive audio experience, while ventilated seats and dual-zone climate control ensure comfort in all weather conditions. Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking, ensuring a safer driving experience. The Clavis also comes with six airbags as standard, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and one-touch up/down functionality for all windows.
Drive and traction modes adapt the vehicle’s performance to different driving conditions, and hill descent control assists with controlled descents on steep slopes. The 360 surround-view camera offers a bird’s-eye view for easy parking and maneuvering, while the powered driver seat provides personalized comfort with adjustable seating.
Price and Launch
Kia plans to launch the internal combustion engine (ICE) versions of the Clavis near the end of 2024 or in the first quarter of 2025. The electric variant is expected to follow in the second half of 2025. The price range is yet to be announced, but we anticipate Clavis pricing between Rs. 9 – Rs. 17 Lakhs, providing excellent value with its extensive features and advanced technology.
