Volkswagen and Mahindra have teamed up to share electric vehicle parts for future models. They agreed on this back in 2022, with Mahindra using Volkswagen’s MEB architecture for its INGLO-based EVs. Now, they’ve officially confirmed this partnership.
Mahindra will use some platform parts and Volkswagen’s special battery cells for its own electric platform, called INGLO. Volkswagen’s new battery technology is expected to cut costs in half and Mahindra will be the first outside company to use it. This agreement will last for several years and involve about 50 gigawatt hours of energy storage. They’re also looking into more ways to work together.

Volkswagen has a flexible platform called MEB for making electric cars, which is used by brands like Skoda and Audi. This allows Volkswagen to supply electric technology to other carmakers. This deal is a first for Volkswagen, but they’re talking to other companies about doing similar things. Some Asian carmakers are considering making cars for Europe with Volkswagen’s help.
