2020 Maruti Dzire Facelift will get cosmetic updates and CNG engine option as well

Maruti Dzire has been in the market for a number of years and has been ruling the sales chart since then.The third generation version of the compact sedan launched back in 2017 received a great response clocking 30,000 units sales per month in the initial months.Even in the times of slowdown in the auto industry, Dzire managed to grab around 17,000 units consistently.The carmakers have given the sedan a number of small updates including special edition variants among others and this will be the first time when the 3rd generation Dzire would be getting a significant update.Here are all the details of Maruti Dzire facelift including interior, exterior changes, new add on features, price increase and new engine options.

1. Exterior

Maruti Dzire looks striking from every angle.It has got LED projector headlamps, precision cut 16 inch alloys and LED tail lamps.With the update, slight changes will be made to the front and rear bumpers.The front grille with chrome borders would grow slightly bigger in size while the fog lamps are expected to get LED as well.Alloys looks quite cool but their are likely to be given an update as well.Slight tweaks would also be made to the headlamp and tail lamp unit to make it look even more sharper.

Maruti Dzire comes in 6 colour schemes – Silky Silver, Sherwood Brown, Pearl Arctic White, Oxford Blue, Magnum Grey and Gallant Red.It might also get one to two new exterior colour paint options as well.

2. Interior

Maruti Dzire comes with black and beige interior theme and looks quite spacious and roomy with this combination.It gets flat bottomed steering unit and 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system which will be replaced by all new 7 inch smartplay studio touchscreen system which now most of the Maruti cars offers.It supports apple CarPlay, android auto, mirror link and voice commands.Other than this, no major change is expected.

3. Dimensions and Platform

Since it is a facelift upgrade and not an all new generation, no sheet metal changes would be made.It will continue to be build up on the HEARTECT platform and the spec sheet would also remiain unchanged.The length, width, height of Dzire are 3995 mm, 1735 mm, 1515 mm while the wheelbase is 2450 mm.Boot space is 378 L and ground clearance is 163 mm

4. Engine Options

Maruti Dzire is currently available in 1 petrol and 1 Diesel engine option.The 1.2 L K Series VVT 4 cylinder BS 6 compliant unit makes 82 BHP @ 6000 RPM and 113 NM @ 4200 RPM of peak torque.It gets the option of 5 Speed manual and automatic with claimed fuel efficiency of 21.21 kmpl.While the old ageing 1.3 litre 4 cylinder DDiS fiat sourced diesel powertrain makes 74 BHP @ 4000 RPM and 190 NM @ 2000 RPM of torque with manual and automatic transmission.The claimed mileage is 28.4 kmpl.This BS4 compliant engine will be discontinued and will pave way for CNG trims which will remain limited to only certain trims.The CNG trims would also be introduced in other Maruti cars including Swift, which means that now Dzire will come with 1.2 L petrol and petrol-CNG bi-fuel engine options.

5. Features

A number of new features will now be offered in Maruti Dzire including new 7 inch smartplay studio touchscreen infotainment system with all the modern connectivity features along with LED fog lamps.Along with this, a number of features available in top end trims would now be shifted to mid variants includes V and Z where features which were earlier available in only in Z+ model would now come in the lower trims including touchscreen infotainment system, LED projector headlamps, push start stop button with keyless entry among others.

6. Price 

Presently, Maruti Dzire 1.2 petrol variants are priced between Rs. 5.83 Lakhs and Rs. 8.69 Lakhs while the 1.3 L diesel trims falls between Rs 6.67 Lakhs and 9.53 Lakhs (All Prices, Ex Showroom).With the facelift, the prices are expected to go up by Rs. 5,000 and the CNG variants would be premium by Rs. 60,000 compared to the standard petrol variants and with the discontinuation the Diesel engine, Dzire facelift will be priced between Rs. 5.88 Lakhs and Rs. 8.74 Lakhs (Price, Ex Showroom).

7. Launch Date

The facelift of Maruti Dzire 2020 is scheduled to be launched in India in April 2020, the month from which only Bharat Stage VI vehicles will only be manufactured.The exact date is still yet to be announced.
