After the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is the second midsize SUV in India to come with a strong-hybrid powertrain. The car will be provided with two engine options. At first the is expected to get a 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson Cycle engine, which is paired to an electric motor that makes 79hp and 141Nm of torque. Combined power output for the hybrid power plant is 114hp and it is paired to an eCVT gearbox. Company claims an average of 27.97 kpl for this power terrain option. Also Maruti Suzuki is offering their 1.5-litre K15C mild-hybrid engine with the Grand Vitara. The same engine option is also provided in new XL6 and Brezza 2022. The engine offers a power of 103 bhp and 117 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with a 5 speed manual gear box and a 6 speed automatic gear box with paddle shifters with Suzuki’s All-Grip AWD technology. This engine option has a company claimed average of 21.11 kpl for the manual variant, 20.58 kpl for the automatic and 19.38 kpl for the AllGrip AWD. A 1.5L regular petrol engine and a 1.4L turbo petrol engine are both offered for the MG Astor. While the 1.4L turbo petrol is offered with a 6-speed TC automatic transmission, the 1.5L regular petrol has a 5-speed manual and a CVT-style automatic transmission. The Astor’s 1.5L regular petrol engine produces 144Nm of torque at 4400 rpm and 110PS of power at 6000 rpm. The MG Astor’s 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine produces 220Nm of torque at 3600 rpm and 140PS of power at 5600 rpm.

The pricing of the MG Astor with a normally aspirated (VTi-Tech) engine ranges in India from 9.78 lakh to 14.98 lakh while the price of the Astor turbo is between 15.88 lakh and 16.78 lakh. Grand Vitara  is expected to be priced around 9.50 lakhs ex-showroom for the base trim and can go upto 16 lakhs ex-showroom for the top variant. The SUV will be sold through NEXA dealerships in India and the booking for the same will be Rs 11,000.
