Maruti Suzuki India Limited has updated its premium sedan, Ciaz with cosmetic changes, equipments upgradations and a new 1.5 L petrol engine.This new petrol engine also formed duties in next-generation Ertiga as well and will power facelift Brezza and S-Cross which are due for their launch in early 2020.Key additions on the styling front includes LED tail lamps and daytime running lamps.The top-end trim now gets precision cut alloys as well.With fresh updates on the exterior and interior front, Maruti Ciaz has been able to capture majority of the sales of the mid-sized sedans.Maruti Ciaz Facelift 2019 takes on the likes of some tough rivals including Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Ameo and Skoda Rapid.
New Ciaz 2019 will be launched in India in next month, that is, the month of February.It will be the third Maruti car of 2019 after the launch of 6th generation WagonR and Baleno Facelift, both of them are slated for January 2019 launch.It will be sold through Next dealerships while the deliveries and test drive vehicles would be available a few days after the launch of New Maruti Ciaz 2019.Recently, Honda has also updated it’s City line-up with petrol variant for top-spec model and introduction of two new colours.

The cabin of Ciaz is pleasing and has been treated with wooden wisely.Although it is a sedan, but still offers good amount of space inside the cabin.Seats are comfortable with leather seats available for the top trims.Instrument cluster also provides useful information along with graphical figures for mild hybrid.Smartplay infotainment system, steering controls and big glovebox are the prominent interior features.The sedan scores well in practicality.It offers 510 litres of healthy boot.For the comfort of the rear passengers, reading lamps, A/C vents and sunshades are also offered.
Exterior of Ciaz 2019 which will be similar to Ciaz facelift 2018 looks elegant.Front grille has been filled with piano black treatment.LED work on headlamp unit and tail lamp instantly attracts attention.Sharp edges across the sides is supported by new precision cut 16-inch alloys which remains exclusive to only top model of New Ciaz.
Push start/stop button, automatic ac unit and electrically adjustable and retractable outside rear view mirrors doesn’t end the feature list of New Ciaz 2019.It also gets Tilt and telescopic steering, keyless entry, front and rear armrest with storage space, height adjustment for driver seat and a number of safety equipments which are limited only to petrol automatic variants.
In terms of specifications, no changes will be made.In 2019, New Ciaz similar to facelift Ciaz introduced back in 2018 measures 4,490 mm long, with a width and height of 1,730 mm and 1,485 mm respectively.Ground clearance is 170 mm with a massive boot space of 510 litres.Fuel tank capacity is 43 litres while the kerb weight of Ciaz starts from 1016 kgs.Tyre size is expected to be same as before.

Standard safety feature list will get one or two new safety features.Sigma variant has got seat belt reminder for driver and passenger, reverse parking sensors, high speed alert system, ABS with EBD and airbags.Top variant is loaded with safety equipments like Auto Dimming IRVM, reverse parking camera, ESP, hill hold and much more.
Maruti Ciaz 2019 Variant lineup will remain the same.However differences would be seen in the offering of engines across its variants.The 1.5 L petrol unit will be found in all the variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.Automatic of 1.5 L petrol will be on offer in Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims of Ciaz 2019.The 1.3 L diesel unit like the petrol one will be available across the range.The 1.3 L engine will still power the New Ciaz inspire of the introduction of new 1.5 L Diesel engine.Delta, Zeta and Alpha trims are the trims that will get the 1.5 L diesel unit.Automatic 1.5 diesel is unlikely as of now.

Old and tried and tested fiat sourced 1.3-litre diesel unit which will also be available in all the variants is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.It outputs 89 BHP @ 4,000 RPM and 200 NM @ 1,750 RPM.Fuel economy of this motor is 28.09 kmpl.Available with all the 7 colour options, New Ciaz Sigma 1.3 diesel prices begins from Rs. 9.19 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom,Delhi).This engine will be phased out in early 2020.

This is the engine which will make way to New Ciaz 2019 next month and other Maruti Cars including S-Cross Facelift, Brezza Facelift, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga next year.This unit is BS-IV compliant while certain tweaks will be made to this one in 2020 and the price of 1.5 diesel will grow considerably.Price of Ciaz 1.5 diesel will start from Rs. 10.3 Lakhs and top Alpha trim will cost around Rs. 11.7 Lakhs.With power drawing from 6-speed gearbox, New Ciaz 2019 1.5 L diesel will initially be offered in Delta, Zeta and Alpha models.It generates maximum power of 94 BHP @ 4,000 RPM and peak torque of 225 NM @ 1,500-2,500 RPM.Featuring a dual mass flywheel, the mileage of this engine will be 26.82 kmpl.1.5 diesel automatic and hybrid are unlikely in 2019 but there is a possibility for these in 2020.

With the beginning of 2019, Maruti Suzuki has increased the price of all it’s cars and Ciaz also received an increment.Ciaz 1.5 specific trims – both manual and automatic has been increased by Rs. 1,000.While it is in the prices of Ciaz 1.3 diesel, where noticeable changes of price has been made.The price of New Ciaz 2019 will start from Rs. 8.19 Lakhs for the base petrol trim and go unto Rs. 10.98 Lakhs for the top-spec petrol automatic variant.Since Maruti has increased Ciaz price recently, so no changes would be further made in 1.5 L petrol and 1.3 L diesel variant.Since the 1.5 new Diesel engine of New Ciaz 2019 will make to only Delta, Zeta and Alpha trim, the price of 1.5 Ciaz Diesel will start from around Rs. 10.3 Lakhs for Delta 1.5 diesel and go upto Rs. 11.7 Lakhs for top-spec Alpha 1.5 Diesel.

New Ciaz 2019 will face rivalry with Honda City which has dominated this segment for a long time and has received a mild update in 2019 as well, Hyundai Verna which has got a variety of engine options and Volkswagen Vento as well as Skoda Rapid.This segment will soon be joined by upcoming Tata’s premium sedan whose launch is likely in early 2020.
