Maruti Suzuki was spied testing the WagonR Facelift for the first time, and the test mule seen was completely camouflaged indicating that a launch may happen soon for the Indian Market, or its being tested for the global market.
The WagonR Test Mule spied in India wasn’t camouflaged, and it’s possible that it may not be for India, and could undergoing testing for the International market. The Jimny 5-Door version serves as an example, it is manufactured in India and exported to international markets. This WagonR variant could potentially for the South Africa, and other ASEAN countries like Indonesia where the WagonR is rebadged and sold under Karimun brand. Although we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of the WagonR facelift launch for the Indian Market as it is possible that launch could happen. The spy shots only reveal the rear profile of this updated vehicle, showcasing styling revisions compared to the current model. The rear bumper features two vertical reflectors, the black strip above the rear number plate, replacing the chrome on the current model hints at potential styling changes. Similar enhancements might be present at the front, contributing to the WagonR’s sporty appeal. Drawing parallels with the 3rd-gen model, which saw a Stingray facelift in 2013, there’s speculation that the Stingray name could make a comeback in 2024 with this update. Maruti could also bring interior changes to introduce more features to enhance the WagonR’s appeal. Known for its practical interior space and cost-effectiveness, the WagonR holds the title of Maruti’s highest-selling car as of November 2023 with 16,567 units. In terms of Engine options, the current WagonR offers 2 petrol engines – 1.0 L 3 Cylinder Petrol and a 1.2 L 4 Cylinder Petrol with Manual and Automatic Gearbox, and additional option of CNG fuel. As of now, Maruti was spied testing the Next-Gen Swift in India with expected launch in the early 2024.
