MG Hector Receives 21,000 Orders, Bookings Temporarily Closed

MG Hector was launched in India in late June 2019.There was much anticipation for the car and within no time it crosses 10,000 bookings.Morris Garages already had high hopes with the luxury SUV with expectations of 3,000 units per month and yes it doing much better than this.

MG have their plant in Halol, Gujarat where they are producing 2,000 Hector per month which they are going to increase upto 3000 going by the huge demands.They have received more than expected orders as a result of which MG have temporarily closed bookings for Hector.

Hector is the first car by the car makers for the Indian market and they are overwhelmed by the response in the market.Hector is a feature loaded vehicle.It gets biggest in segment panoramic sunroof, ambient lights, big portrait 10.4 inch infotainment setup with android auto, apple CarPlay, navigation, support for maps, voice commands also provides display for 360 degree camera.

Every variant of Hector is very well loaded with more than adequate features being offered right from the base model.In terms of safety, it features 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, Tyre pressure monitoring system, all 4 disc brakes, Heated outside rear view mirror, electronic parking brake, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts among others.

Currently, it comes in a petrol and Diesel engine option with 48V mild hybrid petrol variant as well.The diesel model makes 170 PS of power and 350 NM of peak torque with transmission duties including 6 speed manual option and petrol unit making 143 PS of power and 250 NM of torque.It gets availability of 6 speed manual and 7 speed DCT options.

Most of the customers are preferring top end trim of the SUV.Both petrol and Diesel engines are getting equal demand in the market with 70% of petrol Hector customers going for DCT automatic variant.

MG has launched Hector at a very competitive price in India and that is one big reason for the success of the premium SUV in India.It is priced between 12.18 Lakhs and 16.88 Lakhs.Hector rivals the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and will soon find a new competitor in the form of Kia Seltos which is off a flying start.

Currently, Morris Garages have 120 centres in India which will be increased upto 250 in September 2019 and more in the coming years.

MG Hector is powered by BS-IV compliant engines and they will be made BS6 by the beginning of 2020.After Hector, MG are introducing eZS electric SUV in December 2019 which will take on recently launched Hyundai Kona.After this, they have plans to brings 7 seater version of Hector with a different name plate and more SUVs by 2020-21.
