Morris Garages had only one car before the launch of ZS electric in January 2020 in the form of MG Hector which was launched in India back in June 2020 and received great response in the market and was consistent in terms of sales while clocking an average of 3,200 units per month.But for the first time, the sales of the SUV has come down to just 1,218 units.This is due to the corona virus threat as a result of which the car production has been stopped.In February 2020, the overall sales of MG Hector has crossed 20,000 since its launch in India in June 2020.
Recently only it has got BS 6 compliant petrol engines while the diesel powertrain is yet to be upgraded to the latest emission norms.It comes with 1.5 Litre 4 Cylinder Turbocharged engine makes 141 BHP @ 5000 RPM and 250 NM @ 1600 RPM of peak torque.It comes with 6 Speed Manual and 6 Speed DCT with ARAI certified mileage of 14.16 kmpl and 13.96 kmpl.There is also 1.5 litre smart hybrid petrol unit with the same power figures and 6 speed manual gearbox with claimed fuel efficiency of 15.81 kmpl.The 2.0 litre BS 4 diesel mill churns out 168 BHP @ 3750 RPM and 350 NM @ 1750 RPM of maximum torque.It sends power to 6 speed manual gearbox with fuel efficiency of 17.41 kmpl.

While the recently launched ZS Electric by the carmakers has recently crosses 3,000 bookings which is great for an electric car and the total number of units sold in February 2020 were 158.On this, Rakesh Sidana, Sales Director, MG Motor India, said, “The MG ZS EV has received a stupendous response in its debut month, with over 150 units delivered to our customers already. He also said, “Meanwhile, the unforeseen coronavirus outbreak has severely affected our European and Chinese supply chains, disrupting our production and impacting our sales in February and will continue through March. We are working towards stabilising the situation and are hopeful that reasonable normalcy will be restored by the end of March.”
MG eZS is offered in 2 variants – Excite which is priced at Rs. 19.88 Lakhs while the top end Exclusive trim costs Rs. 22.58 Lakhs (Ex Showroom Prices).The electric vehicle is currently available in 5 cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Ahmedabad and will soon be introduced in other cities as well.
Under the hood, it gets a 44.5 kWh IP67 certified battery pack with synchronous motor delivering 141 BHP of power and 353 Nm of maximum torque.It gets ARAI certified range of 340 km on a full battery charge.It can be charged via portable charger, AC charger and 50kW DC fast charger.0-100 kmph comes in just 8.5 seconds.
