MG Motors has been spied again testing the Cloud EV in India as it works to expand its product portfolio to appeal to Indian consumers. The Cloud EV is set to compete in the segment, rivalling the likes of upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and other upcoming models.
The upcoming MG Cloud EV, based on the Wuling Cloud EV sold in Indonesia, is set to hit the road later this year. Despite its MPV appearance, it maintains a 5-seater configuration, measuring approximately 4.3 meters in length with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. The EV features a sleek, minimalist design with flush door handles, a simple body, and full-width LED light bars at both the front and rear. Its distinctive front-end design includes headlamps integrated into the bumper. Additionally, a radar module on the lower air intake provides ADAS with Level 2 capabilities.

Spy shots of the Cloud EV’s interior reveal a minimalist design with few physical buttons. Most functions are controlled via steering-mounted controls or the extensive array of screens. The cabin features three displays: an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch floating infotainment system, and a 15.6-inch central control screen. These screens will integrate the LingOS 2.0 ecological cockpit, providing numerous connectivity options and features.
Internationally, the Cloud EV offers two battery pack options: a 37.9 kWh pack with a 360 KM range and a 50.6 kWh pack with a 460 KM range. It comes powered by a single motor mounted at the front axle. It’s currently unclear which battery pack the Indian-spec version will feature.
The Cloud EV is expected to offer front ventilated seats, an electric parking brake, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, a wireless charging pad, six airbags, and more. Additionally, the EV will include a “Sofa Mode,” allowing the front seats to recline fully at 135 degrees for resting while being chauffeured.
The MG Cloud EV is expected to launch in September 2024, competing with the likes of the ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti eVX. MG is anticipated to price the Cloud EV starting from Rs. 20 Lakhs.
