Mahindra is consistently testing the 5 Door Thar for the Indian Market with confirmed launch this year. Moreover, it’s looking likely it’ll launch early in second half of 2024.
The Thar 5-Door set to undergo changes like H pattern grille, new round shape LED DRLs, the front bumper is made of hard plastic, and upright hood. Moreover, it has extra door on both sides with square windows, step-up side plate, 18-inch alloy wheels, and single-pane sunroof on top since it isn’t a convertible like the 3-Door version.

Jumping inside, the dashboard design of the 5-Door Thar had leaked and it looks the same as the 3-door. The 5-Door version will get new free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment system, rotary dials for HVAC controls look more or less the same, and the steering wheel looks similar to the XUV700 SUV. New addition in the SUV is the armrest for the driver while also having a center armrest in which you can store small things, and two cupholders in front of them. Also, it gets new black and brown leather seat upholstery for an premium feel.

The Thar 5 Door will like sport the same engine options as the 3 Door version – 2.2 L 4 Cylinder Diesel and the 2.0 L 4 Cylinder Turbo Petrol Engine with both the engine having the same 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox Option. However, the SUV won’t get the 1.5 L Diesel Engine since this engine won’t be enough to supply required power to the 5 Door version.
In Features, it’ll sport 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, Automatic Climate Control, Single-Pane Sunroof, 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED Headlamps, reverse-parking camera with rear parking sensors, hill assist, hill descent control, traction control, Disc Brakes for all wheels, Limited Slip Differential, 6 Airbags, and so much more.
As for launch, Mahindra had confirmed the 5 Door Thar is expected to launch early in the second half of 2024, and upon on its launch, it’ll rival the 5 Door Maruti Jimny, and the upcoming 5 Door Force Gurkha. We expect Mahindra to price the Thar 5 Door from Rs. 16 Lakhs.
