The new Fortuner rival, the MG Gloster facelift, has been spied testing again on the roads, showcasing its massive road presence and significant design changes. Notably, it appears much larger in dimensions compared to the current Gloster.
Toyota has long dominated the full-size SUV segment with the Fortuner, consistently outpacing competitors like the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster by a significant margin. While these rivals are planning updates to challenge the Fortuner, the MG Gloster’s upcoming facelift stands out. This update, which includes significant changes to both its exterior and interior design, positions the Gloster as a formidable competitor in the market.

The Facelift has grown in size to 5214 MM in length, 2016 mm in width, and 1876 mm in height, and upon comparing it with the Fortuner, it’s definitely bigger by almost 500 MM in length. Design highlights include a massive grille with block patterns, vertical LED elements, slim LED DRLs connected by an LED light bar, and vertically positioned tri-cube LED headlights. From the side, you can see the new 6-spoke with size likely to be between 19 – 20-inches, and appears to be production-ready. Other than that, nothing changed from the side
Inside, the Gloster Facelift features a new infotainment system, redesigned dashboard and center console, two new rotary dials for drive modes and 4×4 selection, slimmer AC vents, and a new steering wheel.
In terms of Engine Options, MG is likely to retain the 2.2 L Single Turbo Diesel Engine delivering 159 BHP and 373.5 NM Torque and the other is the 2.2 L Twin-Turbo Diesel Engine producing 213 BHP and 478.5 NM Torque. Both are mated to an 8 Speed Automatic Gearbox with mileage between 12 – 14 KMPL.
The facelift is well-equipped with features such as heated and ventilated seats, Level 2 ADAS, a digital instrument cluster, 3-zone climate control, a 360-Surround View Camera, powered first and second-row seats, a 12-speaker sound system, automatic power tailgate, 7 terrain modes, heated ORVMs, electro-mechanical differential lock, electric parking brake with auto-hold, and a driver fatigue reminder system.
MG Motors is expected to launch the Gloster Facelift near the end of this year at an expected starting price of Rs. 40 Lakhs.
