Toyota Fortuner is getting a new rival in the form of Skoda Kodiaq which is soon getting a new generation update sporting new design, features and improved engine performance. Here’s everything you need about Skoda’s SUV:
The upcoming new generation Skoda Kodiaq was spotted again completely uncamouflaged, and you can see in the spy shot, the SUV is covered mud indicating Skoda may have done some off-road tests with SUV or water/mud mixture splash on the SUV. Anyway, the SUV is inspired by the 2022 Vision 7S Concept, featuring a more rugged design with squared-off wheel arches, a hexagonal grille, a sculpted bonnet, and an LED light strip across the rear tail-lamp.

Inside, it boasts a free-standing 10-inch digital instrument cluster, an optional heads-up display (HUD), and a new infotainment system ranging from 10 to 13 inches. The center console includes smart rotary knobs with a 32 mm display for climate control and infotainment settings. Interior options include Loft, Lounge, and two variations of the sustainable “Ecosuite” design.
Globally, the SUV offers a 1.5 L plug-in hybrid petrol engine with an electric motor delivering 201.20 BHP and 350 NM torque, with an EV-only range of over 100 km. Other options include a 1.5 L petrol engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system and three pure ICE powertrains, all paired with a standard DSG gearbox. The Indian-spec version is expected to retain the 2.0 L Turbo Petrol engine with 187.74 BHP and 320 NM torque, mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Features include 9 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, heated and ventilated seats, powered front seats, a fully digital cockpit cluster, 3-zone climate control, captain seats in the 2nd row, driver drowsiness alert, park assist, and a panoramic sunroof.
The 2nd Gen Kodiaq, launching during the festive season, is expected to start from Rs. 41 Lakhs, competing with the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian.
