The much-anticipated third-generation Honda Amaze is set to debut in less than a week, scheduled for a launch on December 4, 2024. Honda has teased the public with design sketches, but recent spy photos have given us a clearer picture of the updates to this popular sub-compact sedan. Since its last major update in 2018, this new iteration aims to redefine its standing in the competitive Indian market.
The latest spy images of the 2024 Honda Amaze reveal a significant transformation in its front facade. The grille now features a minimalist approach with a slim chrome bar across the bonnet, replacing the more chrome-heavy design of the current model. This new grille sports a honeycomb pattern, suggesting a more aggressive stance. The LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) resemble those of the Honda City facelift, bringing a touch of familiarity and modernization to the Amaze. These changes give the Amaze a front profile that echoes the aesthetics of the Elevate SUV.
Previous spy shots have also hinted at modifications at the rear. The taillights now adopt a vertical layout inspired by the new City, while the rear bumper has been redesigned to include four sensors and a rear view camera placement under the boot lid. Despite these updates, the side profile of the sedan remains mostly unchanged from its predecessor.
Under the hood, Honda seems to be sticking with the tried and true 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. This powerplant delivers 89 bhp and 110 Nm of torque, available with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. This decision to retain the existing engine suggests Honda’s confidence in its performance and efficiency.
Inside, the 2024 Amaze offers a refreshed look with a dashboard design borrowed from the Elevate. It includes a new floating touchscreen infotainment system, a dual-tone black and beige interior, and the introduction of rear AC vents for enhanced passenger comfort. There are strong indications that Honda might introduce a first-in-segment small electric sunroof and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, elevating the Amaze’s appeal in its class.
In a market segment that includes rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor, the new Amaze is poised to make a significant impact. The recent launch of an extensively updated Dzire has set a high bar for features, but Honda’s latest moves with the Amaze indicate a strong contender, aiming to reclaim and possibly lead its segment with style, technology, and comfort.
