Mahindra to Launch Three New Electric SUVs Soon, Aiming to Challenge Tata’s EV Dominance
In the coming months, Mahindra is gearing up to launch three new electric SUVs, positioning itself as a strong contender in India’s growing EV market. This strategic expansion will broaden Mahindra’s EV portfolio, intensifying its competition with Tata, the current leader in the Indian EV sector. With these launches, Mahindra aims not only to compete with Tata but also to stay ahead of other rising players like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki.
Here’s a closer look at Mahindra’s anticipated EV lineup.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
Expected Launch: 2025
Spy images reveal that the Mahindra XUV3XO EV will closely mirror its ICE counterpart in design, featuring LED projector headlamps, C-shaped LED DRLs, and familiar alloy wheels. The EV sports a subtly tweaked front grille and bumper, while a charging port is positioned above the right front fender. A dual-tone roof with copper paint adds a distinct EV flair, hinting at Mahindra’s updated styling for this electric variant. Inside, it retains the same cabin layout, highlighted by a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a matching digital cluster, and copper accents around the gear lever, all of which echo its ICE sibling.
The Mahindra XUV3XO EV is expected to offer the following powertrain and battery specifications:
- Battery Pack: 34.5 kWh, similar to the lower trims of the XUV400.
- Range: Estimated between 375 – 400 km on a full charge.
- Charging Capability: Supports DC fast charging for added convenience.
This setup makes the XUV3XO EV well-suited for both city commutes and longer drives.
Feature-wise, it mirrors its ICE counterpart, offering dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, cooled glovebox, drive modes, and likely ventilated seats. Safety features include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, 6 airbags, TPMS, and disc brakes on all wheels. Expected to launch by late November 2024, the XUV3XO EV is anticipated to be priced between Rs. 12 lakh and Rs. 17.5 lakh, making it a competitive option in the electric SUV market.
