Mahindra is gearing up to unveil the much-awaited 5-Door Thar for the Indian market, set for launch on August 15th. Anticipation is high as the SUV promises to arrive with a slew of impressive features, surprising its rivals and poised to make a significant impact in the segment. Get ready for a storm as Mahindra unleashes this exciting addition to its lineup.
2024 Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Exterior
The Mahindra Thar 5-Door is getting some updates compared to the 3-Door Thar. These include a new H pattern grille, circular LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs) inside them, a front bumper made of tough plastic, and a more upright hood. Additionally, it will feature extra doors on both sides with square windows, step-up side plates, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a single-pane sunroof on top since it’s not a convertible like the 3-Door version. The tailgate opens towards the sides with the spare wheel-mounted, and also the rear features the same tail-lamps as the 3-door except they are LEDs.

2024 Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Interior
The dashboard design of the 5-Door Thar has been seen multiple times in the spy shots and it appears it’ll be similar to the 3-door version. The 5-Door Thar will have new dual 10.25-inch screens – one for infotainment and the other for digital cluster similar to XUV400 EV; the controls for air conditioning will be operated using rotary dials that look similar to before. The steering wheel resembles the one found in the XUV700 SUV.
A new feature in the SUV is an armrest for the driver, along with a center armrest for storing small items and two cupholders in front. Additionally, the seats will have new black and brown leather upholstery to give a more luxurious feel. Moreover there is a possibility the front row seats are equipped with ventilation providing more comfort and pleasure.

The 5-Door Thar will get two engine options which are taken from the Scorpio-N SUV, except the output won’t be the same, it’ll be lowered down by few percentage. The 2.2 L Diesel and 2.0 L Turbo Petrol Engine will be the options available during launch.
2024 Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Features
When it comes to Features, it’ll sport 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, Automatic Climate Control, Single-Pane Sunroof, 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, 18-inch alloy wheels, Full LED Setup, hill assist, hill descent control, traction control, Disc Brakes for all wheels, Limited Slip Differential, 6 Airbags, and so much more. Additionally, it’s expected to feature ADAS as well as 360 Surround View Camera which will be limited to top-spec variants only.
2024 Mahindra Thar Armada: Price and Rivals
As for launch, Mahindra will be launching the Thar 5-Door early on August 15th, 2024, which is the same day they launched the 3-door version; and upon on its launch, it’ll rival the 5 Door Maruti Jimny, and the upcoming 5 Door Force Gurkha. We expect Mahindra to price the Thar 5 Door from Rs. 15 Lakhs.
