After many numerous sightings of the Mahindra Thar 5-Door, a new spy shot has appeared on the internet showcasing the new LED headlights, and Mercedes G-Wagon Style LED DRLs.
The second-gen Thar was a remarkable success all thanks to it’s robust performance and elegant styling. Consumers seems to have liken the 2WD variants launched earlier this year instead of the 4×4 variants. But let’s move to the recent spy shot of the 5-Door Thar. The image above reveals that Mahindra has now fitted the test mule with the LED headlights, and circular LED DRLs that clearly reminds everyone of the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
There are usually people out there who replace the existing equipments of the car to make it look similar to luxury vehicles. But in this case, a factory-fitted G-Wagon like LED DRLs is good, and it would probably stop them from spending money on the headlamps unit, at least for a G-Wagon look. Notably, the circular LED DRLs is integrated within the LED headlamps which is different from the existing 3-Door Thar which has LED DRLs mounted on the fenders.
These LED headlamps with round LED DRLs could be offered from the mid-spec variants of Thar 5-Door. It’s worth noting that if you opt for lower variant, and invest in the aftermarket units, the cost for the LED headlamps and LED DRLs could range between Rs. 4,000 – Rs. 40,000 depending on the brand and type with various customizations available as well.
The 5-Door Thar will undergo exterior changes such as H pattern grille, and Mahindra could also offer new colour options. Other than that, most of the design language is likely going to be the same as the current 3-Door Thar, except in dimensions, the 5-Door Thar is going to exceed the 4+ meter length. Inside, the 5-Door Thar was spied with 10.25-inch infotainment system (likely), and the steering wheel looked similar to the XUV700 SUV. It’s also going to get a single-pane sunroof which could be offered from mid-variants, and features like front and rear armrests likely to be added.
In Engine Options, it’s possible it’ll sport the same 2.2 L Turbo Diesel, and 2.0 L Turbo Petrol Engines except the power and torque output could be increased, and both could be offered with the 6 Speed Manual and 6 Speed Torque Converter Automatic Gearboxes.
