Mahindra XUV500 has been one of the most popular SUV in India since its launch in 2011. XUV500 is a three row SUV with a seating capacity of 7. Also the company’s first monocoque chassis based vehicle was XUV500 only and now after a couple of facelift, it will get a generation update.
With the generation update, the overall dimensions are going to increase to accommodate more space in the cabin as well as for the boot. Height of XUV500 at 1,785 will continue to remain the same while the overall weight will be reduced by around 150 kg thanks to lighter and more rigid platform.
Also, the length, width, wheelbase as well as boot carrying capacity of the 7-seater SUV is going to be more than the outgoing generation of the XUV500.

A completely revamped look will be seen on the new XUV500. Upfront, it will get LED Projector headlamps and Marazzo like front grille but much bigger and wider in size. Also like the XUV300, the elder brother will have connected headlamps and fog lamps in golf stick shape. Bonnet will be longer than before.
Whats really more interesting is the flush type outside door handles which will also make it to the production version and is a feature that if offered in luxury cars.
Alloy wheels will be redesigned albeit the one spied was without the wheel cover. Tail lights will be derived from Ssangyong Korando which contains LED elements and will be connected by a chrome bar. Rear bumpers is quite big in size which accentuates its SUV looks.
The cabin of Mahindra XUV500 will be all new in 2021. Steering wheel is now flat bottomed and the instrument cluster looks similar to Marazzo and won’t be an all digital unit. The main highlight here is the dual screen setup like we have seen in Kia Seltos.
Waterfall type dashboard design is now gone and the 10.25-inch infotainment system comes in with ac controls placed under it. Buttons and controls for various operations likely to be carry forwarded from Marazzo to avoid the additional cost.
Also inside door handles, seats will be all new to provide completely different experience. The centre tunnel will have drive modes, electric parking and twin cup holders. It is likely to be available in captain / bench seat option for the second row.
Presently available 2.2 litre mHawk Diesel engine of Mahindra XUV500 will be removed and it will get 2.0 L petrol engine (showcased at the auto expo 2020) and the new 2.0 L diesel unit as well.
