If it launches in India, Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter will have a new rival to deal with in the form of Suzuki Hustler.
Maruti Suzuki has only three SUVs in its portfolio – Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara. But now a new Mini-SUV has been spotted in India known as the Hustler sold in Japan. Is it launching in India though?

Maruti Suzuki Hustler Spotted: What can be seen?
Both the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter has been selling pretty well, except the Tata Punch is not only dominating it’s segment but dominating the Compact SUV sales as well. It’s been ranking on 1st in sales except this month it had to settle for 2nd as Hyundai with the Creta took the 1st spot. Now, Suzuki doesn’t have an SUV for this segment, but it seems that’s about to change as a Suzuki Hustler test mule was spotted in India with no camouflage.
The model seen had its Suzuki logo and branding covered, with missing wheel center hub caps to disguise its identity. Despite this, the distinctive design of Suzuki’s Kei car was easily recognizable. The test mule featured a dual-tone white/silver finish with a darker gray roof blending into the rear pillars and tailgate. The Hustler maintains its boxy silhouette and large glass area, typical of Kei cars, while adding crossover features like roof rails and body cladding.
Built on Suzuki’s Heartect platform, the Hustler’s compact yet sturdy design is complemented by a quirky interior layout that comfortably seats four adults. It measures 3395 mm in length, 1665 mm in height, 1475 mm width and 2425 mm wheelbase.
Our Review
After reading this article, many might wonder if the Suzuki Hustler is launching in India. However, the Hustler may be too small for Indian consumers. If Maruti Suzuki plans to sell the Hustler Mini-SUV in India, the vehicle’s dimensions would likely need to be adjusted—possibly extending the length to over 3.5 meters, increasing the width to around 1.6 meters, and slightly expanding the wheelbase to over 2.5 meters to improve rear-seat comfort, while keeping the height unchanged.
The fact that the SUV has been spotted in India suggests that Maruti is exploring the possibility of launching it, though no final decision has been made.
