MG’s new CUV for India has been spotted again testing for the Indian Market. The electric CUV is already on sale globally under the Wuling Cloud EV, but it’ll finally launch in India in coming months as MG Cloud EV.
The upcoming MG Cloud EV, based on the Wuling Cloud EV from Indonesia, is set for release later this year. Despite its MPV look, it retains a 5-seater configuration, measuring approximately 4.3 meters in length with a 2,700 mm wheelbase. The EV boasts a sleek, minimalist design featuring flush door handles, a streamlined body, and full-width LED light bars at both the front and rear. Its distinctive front-end design includes headlamps integrated into the bumper, and a radar module on the lower air intake supports ADAS with Level 2 capabilities.

Spy shots of the Cloud EV’s interior reveal a minimalist design with minimal physical buttons. Most functions are controlled via steering-mounted controls or the extensive array of screens. The cabin features three displays: an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch floating infotainment system, and a 15.6-inch central control screen. These screens integrate the LingOS 2.0 ecological cockpit, offering numerous connectivity options and features.
Internationally, the Cloud EV offers two battery pack options: a 37.9 kWh pack with a 360 KM range and a 50.6 kWh pack with a 460 KM range. It is powered by a single motor mounted at the front axle. The specific battery pack for the Indian-spec version is yet to be confirmed.
The Cloud EV is expected to come with front ventilated seats, an electric parking brake, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, a wireless charging pad, six airbags, power tailgate, dual-zone climate control, and more. Additionally, the EV will include a “Sofa Mode,” allowing the front seats to recline fully at 135 degrees for resting while being chauffeured.
MG Motors is expected to launch India’s first CUV, Cloud EV by September 2024 with no direct rivals. But we expect it to still compete with the likes of the ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Maruti eVX. MG is anticipated to price the Cloud EV starting from Rs. 20 Lakhs.
