Orxa Energies, a startup from the Bengaluru has launched a new electric bike, Mantis, which will be available in one variant only at Rs. 3.60 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The Orxa Mantis which is priced at Rs. 3.60 Lakh does not qualify for the FAME-II Subsidy, but the electric bike does comes with a 1.5 kW Charger. So, the Mantis is powered by a mid-mounted motor producing 27.12 BHP and 93 NM of torque. It can sprint from 0 – 100 KMPH in 8.9 Seconds at a top speed of 135 KMPH, while it can accelerate from 0 – 20 KMPH in 2.7 Seconds which is optimised for the city traffics. The Mantis has a claimed range of 221 KM.Moving to the drivetrain, the Mantis is the first electric bike to use High power density liquid cooled motor in India. Orxa says the reason to use liquid-cooled motor is to aid packaging for compact motor weighing only 11.5 KG. The Mantis gross weight is 182 KG which is lighter by 15 KG compared to its rival, Ultraviolette F77 that weighs at 197 KG.While the Mantis has a bigger battery pack of 8.9 kWh than the Ultraviolette’s F77 7.1 kWh battery pack except the Recon trim which gets 10.3 kWh battery driving its price to the Rs. 4.55 Lakh. The Mantis comes with 1.5 kW Charger, but you can pay extra to get the 3.3 kW Blitz Charger, and both the chargers has the option of being either mounted on the wall, or get it as portable units.Moreover, Orxa has planned some luggage accessories like the side panniers of 30 Litres, and a top box of 45 Litres which can be used to carry the bike charger. Pricing will be revealed once the deliveries begin. Orxa had revealed that the deliveries of the Mantis won’t begin until April 2024 with Bengaluru being the first city, and bookings is open to first 1000 customers at Rs. 10,000, later it will be increased to Rs. 25,000 for others.
