An all-new Rs. 15 Lakh 7 Seater SUV based on the Grand Vitara is set to launch soon to take on the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700. This new SUV will sit above the Grand Vitara in the SUV line-up with much better features and upgrades.
Maruti Suzuki is developing new 7-seater SUV, based on its flagship SUV, the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara-based 7-Seater SUV, as per our render, showcases front fascia reminiscent of the SUV like front element of the fascia with chrome at the centre connecting with the tri-cube NEXA LED DRLs. Beneath the DRLs, you’ll find a square-shape projector LED headlamp setup along with faux skid plates integrated into the bumpers.

The side profile appears elongated to accommodate a third-row seating option for two additional passengers, complemented by new 18-inch alloy wheels with design similar to Grand Vitara. Moreover, the wheel arches are broader and the roof is flat-out straight giving more headroom for third-row passengers. Moving to the rear, expect connected taillamps, a carbon finish for the rear bumpers, and a more prominent design for the tailgate.
Inside, the cabin design may resemble that of the Grand Vitara, albeit with potential upgrades such as a new free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. The second row is likely to offer captain seats for 6-seater trims and bench seats for 7-seater configurations. Third-row will get AC vents on the C-pillar, and panoramic sunroof on top for airy feeling.
Engine Options may vary as Maruti may introduce 2.0 L Z12E Series Petrol Engine with Mild-Hybrid System with 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox; and also offer an in-house produced 1.5 L Petrol Hybrid Engine with eCVT Gearbox. Unlike the Toyota’s Series Hybrid, Maruti’s developing a Parallel Hybrid where both the petrol engine and the electric motor are connected to the gearbox powering the vehicle simultaneously.
Feature-wise, expect Level 2 ADAS, 360 Surround View Camera, Front Ventilated Seats, Powered Front Seats, New 4-spoke steering wheel, 6 Airbags as standard, Hill Descent Control, Drive and Traction Modes, and so much more.
Specific details remain a mystery for now, we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation. If launched in India in 2025, this SUV will compete with the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV700, with an expected price tag around Rs. 15 Lakhs.
