Skoda’s upcoming compact SUV, recently confirmed to be named the Skoda Kylaq, has been spotted during road tests in Pune. The SUV was seen featuring a single-pane sunroof and flashing a striking red exterior paint while being fully camouflaged.

Skoda Kylaq: Design
The Skoda Kylaq boasts a contemporary design that emphasizes both style and ruggedness. Up front, it features twin-pod LED headlights and a sculpted lower bumper, complemented by a clamshell bonnet that adds a robust touch to its appearance. The exterior is further enhanced by sizable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, a prominent shoulder line, black-finished roof rails, and newly designed block-style alloy wheels.
The rear design mirrors the Skoda Kushaq, featuring distinctive L-shaped LED taillights. Inside, the Kylaq shares several design elements with the Kushaq, including a 10-inch dash-mounted infotainment system, a sleek 2-spoke steering wheel with a glossy black finish, and a dual-tone interior with leatherette upholstery, creating a modern and comfortable cabin atmosphere.

The upcoming Skoda Kylaq is expected to be powered by a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 113.98 BHP and 178 Nm of torque. This engine will likely be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an automatic gearbox, providing a fuel efficiency range of 20 to 22 KMPL.
In terms of features, the Kylaq is anticipated to include a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, and a single-pane sunroof, with the possibility of a panoramic option. It’ll come with a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, rear sunshades, a powered driver’s seat, and possibly an electric parking brake.
Safety is expected to be a strong focus, with features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, TPMS, and all-wheel disc brakes. Additionally, there is a possibility that the Kylaq could be equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
Skoda Kylaq: Launch Timeline and Price
The Skoda Kylaq is anticipated to be priced between Rs. 8 to 15 lakhs and it’s likely to debut in January 2025 with launch set to take place in March 2025. Once released, it will enter a competitive market, taking on rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Maruti Fronx, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
