Tata Motors almost has all cars in the every segment out there which exists but they don’t have one car in one segment, the MPV Segment. The Good News is reportedly working on the MPV which is based on the Nexon. Here’s what we list down all the details of what we know so far!
Tata is said to be developing a new car for a segment it didn’t any car, the MPV segment which is already heavily dominated by Maruti with the Ertiga. The Tata MPV would compete with the likes of Maruti Ertiga, XL6, Kia Carens, Hyundai Alcazar, Toyota Innova Crysta and HyCross. Since the MPV is going to be based on Nexon, it is likely it’ll share same design treatments as well like full-length connected LED DRLs on the bootlip, vertically positioned split LED Headlamps, and body-coloured finish on the upper section of the nose. It’ll get slightly different for the design for the bumpers, and lower grille.
The cabin will most likely stay identical to the Nexon like tri-tone dashboard with free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment system, and below that will be the thinner and sleeker AC vents. The MPV will definitely get the 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster that also displays maps for navigation so you don’t get distracted. The 2-spoke steering wheel that has a rectangular display which illuminates the Tata logo, then there is touch-based HVAC controls, wireless charging pad behind rotary dial for drive modes, steptronic gear lever and center armrest with manual handbrake. The electric parking brake might come with MPV but exclusive to top trim only.
Moving to Engine Options, it’s likely it won’t get the 1.2 L Turbo Petrol from Nexon, but instead it could get the 1.5 L Turbo Petrol Engine which is going to come on Harrier and Safari with 168 BHP, except for the MPV, the power output may go down to around 120 – 130 BHP. It’ll definitely get the 1.5 L Diesel Engine producing 113.42 BHP and 250 NM of torque mated to 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox.
In terms of Features, it’s definitely going to come with 360 Surround View Camera, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, 6 Airbags as standard, ventilated seats, powered driver seat, automatic climate control, ambient lights, air purifier, Air Purifier, Panoramic Sunroof, and so much more.
The details are very minimal for now, but we should definitely be hearing more about it in the coming months as at the moment, Tata is gearing for Punch EV launch tomorrow, 21st December 2023, and testing the Curvv SUV for early 2024 launch.
