Toyota is gearing up to release the next generation of the Fortuner, featuring updates to both the exterior and interior. One notable change is the introduction of a new powertrain that incorporates a 48V battery for mild-hybrid technology. This system will be coupled with both diesel and petrol engines, aiming to lower emissions and enhance fuel efficiency.

The upcoming iteration of the Fortuner is set to undergo several enhancements, featuring a redesigned front grille adopting a semi-hexagon shape with three horizontal slats. The tri-cube LED headlamps will now exhibit a sharper look, accompanied by sleek LED DRLs within the headlamp unit. While the side profile remains consistent, a new set of alloy wheels will be introduced.

At the rear, expectations include connected LED taillamps and a revamped bumper design for both the front and rear sections. Inside the cabin, subtle changes to the dashboard design are anticipated to accommodate a larger, free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment system, complemented by slimmer AC vents below. The new Fortuner is also expected to feature a fully digital instrument cluster and a redesigned 4-spoke steering wheel. There’s a possibility of Ottoman Seats in the 2nd row, inspired by the HyCross model, aligning with the trend of rivals offering Captain Seats.

The powertrain options are set to include the 2.8 L 4 Cylinder Diesel and 2.7 L Petrol engines, both integrated with a 48V battery for mild-hybrid functionality to enhance fuel efficiency by around 10 – 15% and also help in reduce emissions. Despite these changes, power and torque outputs are likely to remain unchanged.
In terms of features, the new Fortuner will introduce a host of additions, including the 10.25-inch infotainment system, a new digital instrument cluster, Ottoman Seats in the 2nd row, and a 360 Surround View Camera. There are possibilities of the return of the 11 Speaker JBL Sound System. Noteworthy existing features, such as ventilated seats, powered seats, and hill descent control, will be retained.
Toyota has officially confirmed a 2024 launch for the Indian market, with more detailed information about the SUV expected to be unveiled in the coming months.
