The XUV700 and the Harrier SUVs has got a new rival in the form of MG’s HS SUV which they debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in both ICE and EV versions. The new MG HS is available in SE and Trophy trims with advanced tech and comfort features. The PHEV version offers a significant electric range and enhanced acceleration.

The second-generation MG HS features a sharply sloping hood, large grille, slender light clusters, and sporty 5-spoke wheels. The rear is simpler with a through tail light, skid plate, and dual chromed exhaust tips. Available colors include White Pearl, Black Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Hampstead Grey Metallic, and Dynamic Red. MG’s website lists the new HS with precise dimensions: 4655 mm Length, 1890 mm width, 1664 mm height, and a 2765 mm wheelbase. These are similar to the Indian-spec Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector, and Tata Harrier/Safari.

In the UK, the HS comes in SE and Trophy trims. The SE has dual 12.3-inch screens with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rear parking camera, and heated exterior mirrors. The Trophy adds an eight-speaker audio system, 360-degree parking camera, wireless phone charging, and heated, electrically adjustable front seats. The trunk space is 507 liters.
Powered by a 1.5 T engine producing 168 bhp and 275 Nm torque, the HS offers a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds (manual) and 9.6 seconds (automatic), with top speeds of 190 km/h and 195 km/h, respectively. The PHEV version features a 24.7 kWh battery with a 121 km electric range, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. It uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged hybrid engine.
UK prices start at 24,995 GBP (approx. ₹25 lakh) for the ICE version and 31,495 GBP (approx. ₹32 lakh) for the PHEV. Moreover, in case MG plans to bring this model to India, it’s likely to sit above the Hector and below the Gloster in line-up, and as for the launch, expect it to come to India after 2026.
