The 2024 Next-Gen Maruti Dzire will be packed with a strong hybrid powertrain making it the first model in it’s own segment to have a Hybrid mode.
With the successful launch of Grand Vitara with the strong hybrid powertrain, Maruti Suzuki is now looking to expand it’s line-up with the strong-hybrid powertrain beginning with the Dzire.
2024 Maruti Dzire – What you need to know!
The new Dzire will be powered by the Maruti’s all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and not a four-cylinder unit, paired to a version of Toyota’s strong-hybrid tech which we’ve seen in the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. This is a big news for the Indian customers as the strong-hybrid powertrain could make the Dzire more fuel efficient as according to the reports, the Dzire could get an ARAI mileage of 35 – 40 kmpl.
To put that into perspective, the Grand Vitara strong hybrid has a fuel efficiency of 27.97 kmpl. The current Dzire has a fuel efficiency of 22.41 kmpl in Manual and 22.61 kmpl in Automatic and with the strong-hybrid tech, it is quite possible it’ll achieve the 35 – 40 kmpl fuel efficiency. In compact cars, fuel efficiency is the main focus and these cars are mostly used in urban areas, and with that bumper-to-bumper traffic, high fuel efficiency of 35 – 40 kmpl makes very sense.
The strong hybrid variants will raise the price of the Dzire by a huge amount but the saving customers will make on the fuel will be kind of worth it. To reduce the strong-hybrid, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are actively working to narrow the cost gap between the petrol and hybrid by aggressively localizing the hybrid system production. The price difference between the Strong-Hybrid, and Smart Hybrid is Rs. 2.6 lakh for the Grand Vitara, and we’ve heard that Maruti is trying to bring the cost down to Rs. 1 lakh – 1.5 lakh, and by the time the cost comes down, the new Dzire with strong hybrid will launch in 2024.
Other than the strong-hybrid, Maruti will continue to offer the Dzire with Petrol and CNG powertrains for lower variants.
