A man named Mohit Sharma, already facing a defamation case in Gandhidham, stole an official police vehicle from the compound of a police station in Dwarka, Gujarat. The incident, captured in numerous online videos depicting the ease with which thieves operate, unfolded around 8:15 am on a Thursday morning.

Mohit Sharma, who arrived in Dwarka on a motorcycle, ostensibly to offer prayers, left his bike near the police station. Seizing an opportunity, he absconded with a Mahindra Bolero parked within the police station compound. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Samir Sarda, noted that in a town frequented by tourists, station officers may not immediately notice the absence of a vehicle, especially when staff members often use cars in emergencies.
Sharma, already a subject of a defamation investigation, had reportedly threatened to steal a police vehicle in Gandhidham. The police suspected his motive was to sell the stolen car for scrap. It remains uncertain whether Sharma meticulously planned the theft or impulsively seized the moment.
The missing police vehicle was discovered after a delay, prompting the alerting of neighboring police stations and patrol units. CCTV footage revealed the stolen SUV passing through toll gates at Kuranga and Khambhaliya. Mohit Sharma, who managed to drive the car for nearly 200 kilometers without refueling, even shared images of himself with the Mahindra Bolero on social media platforms.
Law enforcement eventually arrested Sharma near Ambar Chokdi in Jamnagar around 2:30 pm. Although the charges against him remain unclear, the police claim that Mohit Sharma is addicted to marijuana. However, the reports do not specify whether he committed the act under the influence of this illegal substance. This incident echoes a similar case in Karnataka from the previous year, where a man drove a stolen police Mahindra Bolero for 100 kilometers to fulfill his desire of driving an official police vehicle.
