Bengaluru-based electric scooter startup River has introduced updates to its flagship e-scooter, the Indie, for 2025. Alongside new features, the model is now priced at Rs. 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom), marking an Rs. 18,000 price hike compared to its launch price. The updates aim to enhance performance and cater to growing customer demand.

The River Indie retains its 4 kWh battery pack, delivering an IDC range of 160 km. Charging options include fast charging, achieving 80% charge in around 5 hours with a 750W charger. Riders can choose from three riding modes—Eco, Ride, and Rush—to suit various needs.
Dubbed the ‘SUV of Scooters’, the Indie boasts a massive 55 litres of storage, split between a 43-litre under-seat compartment and a 12-litre glovebox. Additional features include:

Market Position and Expansion
The updated River Indie competes with established players such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak 3201, Ather Rizta, and Ola S1 Pro. Despite the price hike, its unique features and robust build position it as a strong contender in the electric two-wheeler market.
River has sold over 3,000 units of the Indie since its launch and is now focused on expanding its presence across India. The company plans to open showrooms in key cities, including Coimbatore, Vizag, Hubli, Cochin, Belgaum, Vellore, Mysore, and Uppal within the next two months.
