Stuck Scorpio towed by BMW X7: What Happened?
The video was shared by Avinash Bhamare on his YouTube channel, depicts a Mahindra Scorpio stuck on Ganpatipule beach in Maharashtra. The SUV, already entrenched in the sand as the video begins, raises questions about how the driver managed to get into this situation. The rear wheels of the Scorpio were deeply embedded in the sand, with the tide seemingly rising.
Attempts were made by the Scorpio driver to extricate the SUV using logs found on the beach, but these efforts proved futile. The Scorpio in question appears to be the 2WD version, adding to the difficulty. This scenario is not uncommon, as even 4×4 SUVs have been known to get stuck on beach sands. After several unsuccessful endeavors, a BMW X7 luxury SUV driver intervened to assist. A rope was used to connect the Mahindra Scorpio to the rear of the BMW X7.
In the video, the Scorpio’s rear is visibly buried in sand. The BMW X7, equipped with a potent engine and xDrive AWD system, slowly applies tension to the rope. The initial attempt involved a gentle pull, but the wet sand compromised traction, prompting the X7 driver to reverse slightly and exert more force. This successful maneuver prompted applause from onlookers.
It’s worth noting that driving on most beaches in India is illegal, with only one exception where it is permitted. Even on the permissible beach, incidents of vehicles getting stuck too close to the water have occurred. Sand driving, especially on soft terrain, is precarious. Saltwater exposure poses a significant risk to vehicles, potentially causing damage and corrosion. Promptly washing the vehicle at a service center after beach driving is advised. Experience plays a crucial role, and if one lacks confidence in driving on loose sand, it is advisable to avoid such terrains.
