Maruti’s parent company Suzuki Corporation has filed two trademarks in India under two new names – Escudo and Torqnado. It is possible that these two nameplates could end up being for their upcoming planned eight models for India Launch over the next 4 years.

It’s speculated that some of these models may adopt familiar nameplates, possibly from Suzuki’s existing lineup, such as the “Escudo” used for the Vitara SUV in Japan. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki has trademarked the name “Torqnado,” suggesting potential future use, although this isn’t a guarantee of its adoption.As of now, Maruti Suzuki’s primary focus lies on testing the next-generation Swift and Dzire, both expected to bring significant changes to the Indian market. These models are anticipated to launch in the coming months. Simultaneously, the development and testing of the eVX, Maruti’s first electric SUV, are also in progress.
