Tata Motors is very soon going to launch the Harrier Facelift which will come with major changes, and so we thought why don’t we compare it against the Toyota Hyryder to see if booking Harrier Facelift is the right choice.
Tata Harrier Facelift vs Toyota Hyryder – Design
From the outside, the new Tata Harrier Facelift has undergone big exterior changes such as the front fascia as been changed completely with changes to the grille, bumpers, and headlamps. A full-width LED strip is above the grille that spans across the front body, an significant features of the Curvv concept. It has ADAS Radar panel at the bottom grille and the camera at the top of the windscreen from the inside. Moving to the side, it has simple look with creasing, thin wheel arches and rides on the new 18-inch alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, changes extend to the bumpers, skid plate, and wrap-around signature connected LED taillamp that from the side resemble the S shape.
At the front, the Hyryder has blacked out element with chrome line that is connected at both the sides of LED lights, chrome inserts around the fog lamps with rounded square grille and the bumper both at the front and rear finished in faux silver skid plate. Moving to the side, it has chrome line at the bottom window frame, cuts on the doors with 17-inch alloy wheels, and non-functional roof rails contributing towards the design. At the rear, it has LED taillamps joining the chrome line with Toyota logo and reverse parking light with indicators above it are vertically positioned.
Talking about the interiors, the Harrier Facelift undergone some changes as well like the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is sleek, thinner, and very responsive, new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that is configurable, and displays navigation maps while driving, in front of the cluster is the new four-spoke steering wheel with display at the center that illuminates the Tata logo, and ambient light across the dashboard, and around the voice-assisted panoramic sunroof. Below the AC vents, it features touch-sensitive panel to control the dual-zone climate control, and other things.
In front of it is the rotary dial for the terrain modes, steptronic gear shifter, and electronic parking brake with auto hold function. It features an fixed armrest but the space inside is good enough to store two cans. On the leather seats, it features huge adjustable headrests to keep you comfy, and further enhances the luxury appeal. Both the seats are electrically adjustable, and comes with ventilated seats. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio, and it’s equipped with 10 Speaker JBL sound system.
The Hyryder on the other hand, features a 9-inch infotainment system placed above the AC vents and the AC vents at the sides positioned horizontally. It does have the dual-tone dashboard theme option as well with leather seat upholstery. The Hyryder has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster although the image you’re seeing has Analog instrument cluster which is available in all the variants except the top variant. The Hyryder has two USB ports at the front and rear, buttons for ventilated seats, driver mode, and EV mode. The Hyryder also has a Heads-up Display top of the instrument cluster. At the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio and it has a 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system.
So, from the outside, and the inside, the Harrier Facelift looks way better than the Hyryder, and it’s not that the Hyryder looks bad, or anything, it’s good-looking, but we prefer the Harrier Facelift.

The Toyota Hyryder on the other hand, measures 4365 MM in length which is 240 MM shorter, 1795 MM in width that is narrower by 127 MM, and height of 1645 MM that is shorter by 73 MM. The Harrier Facelift features a wheelbase of 2741 MM, and ground clearance of 205 MM where as the Hyryder measures 2600 MM which is shorter by 141 MM, and ground clearance of 208 MM which is higher by 3 MM. The Harrier Facelift is offered with the 50 L Fuel Tank, and 445 L Boot Space while the Hyryder is offered with 45 L Petrol Fuel Tank, and 55 L CNG Cylinder, and Boot Space is of 373 L (Petrol only), and 265 L (Hybrid only).

When it comes to Engine Options, the Harrier Facelift is offered with the turbo diesel powertrain. The Toyota Hyryder isn’t offered this powertrain, and it’ll likely won’t be getting this anytime soon. Anyway, the Harrier Facelift is powered by the 2.0 L 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel engine generating 167.67 BHP and 350 NM of torque, it’s mated to 6 Speed Manual Gearbox with 16.80 KMPL fuel economy, and 6 Speed Automatic Gearbox with 14.60 KMPL fuel economy.

In the end, the decision to buy which SUV depends totally on you, however, if you ask us the Tata Harrier Facelift looks very promising as it’s got a new makeover, new features, good engine and performance, spacious, and feels very luxurious. Although, the Hyryder also has good amount of features, space and comfort, and the highlight, Hybrid powertrain giving almost 1,000 KMs range, it’s something you want to look out for. So, if you can afford the Harrier SUV, we suggest you go for it, otherwise, the Hyryder is a very strong choice as well. Which one are you going to buy?
