Now that the Nexon Facelift is unveiled to the world, Tata is now gearing up to reveal the EV counterpart as well on September 7th, but before we approach the day, Tata released few teasers that gave us a glimpse of how the front of the EV is going to look.
Tata Nexon EV Facelift – What you need to know!
With Tata Motors having unveiled the Nexon Facelift to the world, it has now released a teaser for the upcoming Nexon EV facelift that is all set to debut on September 7th. The teaser confirms the use of “.ev” branding for the electric version of Nexon aligning with Tata’s recently renamed electric vehicle division. In the previous version, the EV was simply distinguished by an “EV’ suffix from its ICE counterparts. The “.ev” badging first appeared on the Tiago EV which was later followed by the Tigor EV.
The Nexon EV facelift will look slightly different in styling than the pre-facelift version which was identical to its ICE counterpart. The teaser gave us a glimpse of the front fascia as it gets full-width LED light bar that is similar to the Curvv concept, and the rest of the design as well. The EV gets single-tone body colored finish on the upper section of the nose where as a contrasting black finish is seen on the ICE versions of the Nexon. The rear there is no difference except the .ev branding after Nexon badging, and its also possible that the EV could get a new design for the alloy wheels.
It’s being reported that Tata will also drop the Prime and Max suffixes opting instead to use Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) to distinguish between the two variants of the Nexon EV. It can be divided into the same four variants as the Nexon Facelift – Smart, Pure, Creative, and Fearless. How the distribution of MR and LR version is going to be done is unknown at the moment, but expect these variants to get optional packages identified by “+” suffixes. Additionally, the Nexon EV and the ICE Nexon both will share the same equipment list.
As for the battery pack, it’ll most likely remain unchanged from the current model. It’ll continue to be equipped with the Medium Range(MR) 30.2 kWh battery with claimed range of 312 km and a Long Range (LR) 40.5 kWh battery pack with claimed range of 453 km. Both have the 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW AC Charger. The Nexon EV will continue to be powered by the permanent magnet synchronous motor with the output in the MR will be 127 BHP and 245 NM of torque, and 142 BHP and 250 NM of torque in the LR.
The Nexon EV Facelift will come with features such as 10.25-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, 10.25-inch configurable Digital Instrument Cluster, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, touch-based climate controls, leatherette upholstery, and many more. The Nexon EV will continue to compete with its only competitor in this segment, the XUV400 EV. The pricing for the EV will be announced alongside the ICE version on September 14th.
