Tata Nexon EV Max Dark Edition – What’s New?

EV Max Dark Edition Dashboard!

Tata had launched the Nexon EV Max last year and today it gets Dark Edition which brings few changes to the EV. The first is a new infotainment system for the EV Max as it now gets a new 10.25-inch touchscreen display which is now much better than the 7-inch infotainment system it had. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system boasts features such as voice assistant in 6 regional languages – English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi, with 180+ voice commands, new EV display theme for the infotainment system, supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and upgraded reverse camera.

The touchscreen display used in the Nexon EV Max is the same as the one introduced with the Red Dark Editions of the Harrier and Safari, but not with the Nexon. With this launch, the Nexon EV Max becomes the first Nexon in the line-up to have the 10.25-inch HD infotainment system by Harman. The Nexon facelift has been spotted on the road multiple times with its design and interiors heavily-inspired from its Curvv SUV and is rumored to launch in August.

The EV Max exterior and interior receives the Dark treatment as the body receives their signature Midnight-Black colour paint with accentuated Charcoal Grey alloy wheels, and projector headlamps with tri-arrow DRLs, and tri-arrow signature LED taillamps with #DARK badging on the fendor. The interior gets all-black treatment with blue accents around the AC vents and the seats stitching has blue accents on it. The dashboard is finished in glossy black paint with tri-arrow pattern, Dark-themed leatherette seat upholstery with tri-arrow perforations & EV blue highlight stitches and the Leatherette-wrapped steering wheel with EV blue stitches.

It gets features such as sunroof, air purifier with AQI display, cruise control, wireless charging for smartphones, glovebox cooling, and AC vents at the rear. Rest of the features remains the same as that on the EV Max XZ+ Lux variant. In safety, it has the ABS with EBD, dual airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, traction controls, ESC, and more as well.

This what the Mr. Vivek Srivatra, Head Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy for Tata Electric Mobility, had to say, “The Nexon EV is India’s #1 EV and in a short span has been loved and trusted by over 50,000 customers, making it the flagbearer of India’s EV evolution. The #DARK range on the other hand has made a mark for itself too by becoming a popular choice of customers. With the success of the #DARK and the popularity of the Nexon EV MAX, we felt it was the right time to marry the two and present to our customers this new avatar that moves #DARK to MAX.”

As for the battery pack, no changes has been done as it still has the 40.5 kWh battery pack that produces 141.04 bhp and 250 Nm of torque with a range of 453 km. It has the same three drive modes – City, Eco, and Sport. In the first two modes, the power gets restricted to 95.67 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. It has two chargers on offer – 3.3 kW and 7.2 kW. If you use 3.3 kW charger, it’ll take 15 hours to charge from 10 – 100% while the same on a DC charger can be done in 56 minutes from 0 – 80%.

If you use 7.2 kW charger, it’ll take 6.5 hours to charge from 0 – 100% while it’ll take the same 56 minutes from 0 – 80% on a DC Charger. As to how much the Dark Edition is priced at, the XZ+ Lux Dark Edition costs Rs. 19.04 lakh which will have 3.3 kW charger and Rs. 19.54 lakh for the XZ+ Lux Fast-Charging Dark Edition which will get the 7.2 kW charger.
