Tata has officially unveiled the facelift of the Nexon.ev after dropping the two suffixes, Prime and Max and renamed itself to Nexon.ev. So, we thought of comparing the Nexon.ev against the MG ZS EV to see how the both competes against each other.
Tata Nexon.ev vs MG ZS EV – Design
The front design of the Nexon.ev is a bit different from the front than it’s ICE Sibling. The front features a full width LED light bar that joins with the LED DRL for one distinctive look. However, on lower variants, you only get LED DRLs with black element in between. Below the DRLs, there are vertically positioned split LED headlamps. These headlamp units are positioned vertically, and the bumpers have been redesigned with trapezoid design patterns to differentiate from the ICE version.
The side profile remains largely unchanged, except for sleeker ORVMs (Outside Rear-View Mirrors) inspired by the Harrier and Safari. The wheels have also been slightly redesigned, featuring 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the Nexon Facelift features X-factor LED taillamps that are connected by a LED light bar for a distinctive design. It gets sequential indicators, C-shaped protrusions, and the reflectors have been positioned towards the edges for a wider SUV appearance.
The ZS EV has closed grille with the tri-arrow patterns around the MG logo. Earlier, the charging port was integrated with the MG logo, however, the charging port has been moved to the side. The bumpers both front and the rear has been revised. The LED DRLs are integrated with the LED headlamp which are sharp and sleek. The side has creases with alloy wheels and a request sensor for the passenger door as well. The rear LED Taillamps has the same look from the outside as the LED headlamps except the taillamps has mini-LEDs that form a design inside the taillamps.
The Nexon.ev features a 12.3-inch infotainment system over the thinner and sharper AC vents, and the dashboard comes with dual-tone theme option. The EV features a new two-spoke steering wheel with new digital instrument cluster and a single-pane sunroof on top. The two-spoke steering wheel has a rectangular display which illuminates the Tata logo, which is the same as the Curvv SUV. Below the AC vents, there are no physical buttons to control the HVAC, but rather a new touch-sensitive control system for a clean design. There is a huge center console with Steptronic gear lever, wireless charging pad behind the rotary dial drive modes, cup holders, and armrest. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio, and this SUV comes equipped with 9-speaker JBL Premium Sound System.
As for the MG ZS EV, it has 10.1-inch infotainment system placed below the AC vents and has round AC vents at the sides. It has the dual-tone dashboard option as well. The ZS EV has the three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with digital instrument cluster and two analog dials. It has rotary dial to control the drive mode of the SUV, and before the dial, it has buttons for electric parking brake and for the auto hold function. It has metal finish on the buttons below the infotainment system for automatic climate control. It has two USB ports at the front and two at the rear with a panoramic sunroof. The rear seats are split in 60:40 ratio and has 6-speaker sound system.
So, from the outside, and the inside, Tata has nailed the design and styling of the SUV as it looks very premium and spacious making the MG ZS EV look little bad.

In terms of dimensions, the Nexon EV measures 3995 MM in length, 1804 MM in width, and 1620 MM in height. In contrast, the ZS EV is 4323 MM long, making it 328 MM longer, 1809 MM wide, which is 5 MM wider, and 1649 MM tall, standing 29 MM taller. The Nexon EV boasts a wheelbase of 2498 MM, a ground clearance of 208 MM, and a 382 L boot space. On the other hand, the ZS EV features a 2585 MM wheelbase, which is 87 MM longer, a ground clearance of 192 MM, which is 16 MM lower, and a boot space of 470 L, making it 88 litres bigger.

The Nexon.ev has a 30 kWh battery pack that produces 127.23 BHP and 215 NM of torque and provides a claimed range of 325 KM. Then there is the 40.5 kWh battery pack producing 143.01 BHP and 215 NM of torque and provides a claimed range of 465 KM. The Nexon.ev misses out on ADAS and rear Disc brakes while the ZS EV misses out on Front Parking Sensors. As for the warranty, the Nexon.ev has a warranty period of 3 years/1,25,000 km on car and 8 years/1,60,000 KM for the battery and the car warranty can be extended up to 5 years/1,25,000 KM on the car. The MG ZS EV has 5 years/1,50,000 KM car warranty, and 8 years/1,50,000 KM for the battery pack.

In the end, the decision to buy which electric SUV depends totally on you, however, if you ask us, it is recommended to go for the Nexon.ev as they nailed the design elements for both interior and exterior, better range than ZS EV, feature-loaded, and affordable. The MG ZS EV is a great choice as well as its bigger, better in features slightly, comes with Level 2 ADAS for enhanced safety, and it’s quicker in performance than the Nexon.ev.
