It’s time to do a comparison of the two SUVs produced by Tata Motors. Tata Nexon and Tata Punch to see which one is the best SUVs produced by Tata Motors.

Tata Nexon front has black element that connect withs the LED headlamps with LED DRLs inside the headlamps and and the bottom is the tri-arrow grille with fog lamps at the sides. From the side, it has creases to give it mean look and rides on the 16-inch alloy wheels. The front and rear bumper are finished in silver faux skid plate. At the rear, it has LED taillamps with two lines within them and has a rear wiper at the rear windscreen.

The front of the Punch has blacked out element that connects with the LED DRLs and Tata logo at the center. Below that is the tri-arrow grille that connects with the fog lamps and projector headlamps above them that are obviously halogen. At the side, there is slight cuts to have that punch look with 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there is the tri-arrow treatment in the taillamps as well which are of course going to be LEDs and faux black skid plate.

As you can at the interiors, there is similarity between the two cars. However, the Nexon gets a full digital instrument cluster while the Punch has part digital and part analog instrument cluster. The Nexon has got wide V shaped AC vents while the Punch has got rounded square AC vents with both cars having three-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Both the cars have 7-inch infotainment system with dual-tone theme option for the interiors.

As you can see at the Dimensions, there is little difference between the two SUVs. The Nexon has a length of 3993mm while the Punch has 3827mm length with 166mm difference. The Nexon has 1811m width while the Punch has 1742mm width with 69mm difference. The Nexon has a height of 1606mm which is 9mm less than the Punch 1615mm height. The Nexon has 2498mm wheelbase which is more than the Punch 2445mm wheelbase.

The Nexon has a ground clearance of 209mm while the Punch has 187mm ground clearance with 22mm difference. The Punch has a boot space of 366 litres while the Nexon has a boot space of 350 litres. The Nexon got a fuel tank of 44 litre while the Punch has 37 litres which is 7 litres less than the Nexon. The Nexon has a kerb weight of 1,315 kg while the Punch has 1,070 kg and the Punch has Gross weight of 1,460 kg while Nexon has 1,725 kg.

Tata Nexon has one petrol and one diesel engine on offer. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel produces 113.42 bhp and 260 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed Manual Transmission and 6-speed Automatic Transmission with a fuel efficiency of 24.05 km/l and a top speed of 128 kmph. The other is the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 118.35 bhp and 170 Nm of torque mated to the same 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic Transmission with fuel efficiency of 17.05 km/l.

The Tata Punch on the other hand, has the 1.2-litre Revoltron petrol engine that puts out 117.74 bhp and 115 Nm of torque paired a 5-speed Manual Transmission and 5-speed Automatic Transmission with a fuel efficiency of 20.9 km/l.

As you can see at the features list, the Punch doesn’t get Sunroof and ventilated seats. It doesn’t get full digital instrument cluster, leather seat upholstery, LED headlamps, and Harman’s sound system.

As you can see at the safety features, the safety features are almost same, except, the Punch doesn’t get Traction control. Both the cars get two airbags where as it should be getting six airbags.

Tata Nexon has literally 65 variants on offer. The base XM diesel variant starts at Rs. 11.35 lakh and goes up to Rs. 17.01 lakh for the top-end XZA Plus LUXS Red Dark AMT Edition. The petrol base variant starts at Rs. 8.75 lakh and goes up to Rs. 15.04 lakh for the XZA Plus LUXS Red Dark AMT Edition.

Tata Punch has literally 30 variants on offer as the starting price is Rs. 7.09 (on-road) for the ‘Pure’ variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 10.99 lakh for the ‘Creative IRA’ with Automatic Transmission and Dual tone option.
