Tata Motors has debuted their first production-ready all-new Tata Curvv SUV at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 and is all set to launch later this year for the Indian Market, most probably in the third quarter of 2024. Here everything you need to know about the new offering from Tata!
The Tata Curvv will be the first all-new product from the brand that will launch later this year. The SUV boasts a sleek front fascia with bits similar to the Nexon & Harrier/Safari; and a distinctive coupe-like roofline, setting it apart in a segment which is highly dominated by upright SUVs like the Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, etc. Before the expo, the design patent of the SUV had leaked revealing the final design of the SUV, and the version we saw at the Expo just shows that very minimal tweaks has been done since the version seen at the Auto Expo held in January last year.

The SUV features thinner connected LED DRLs that resembles the one on the Nexon SUV, only slightly bigger. The grille sports a mixture of piano black and body-color finish, instead of body-colored finish seen last year. The front bumper features new LED Headlamps and Fog Lamp housings reminiscent of the Harrier and Safari facelifts. An additional air vent is situated between the grille and the license plate housing, suggests possible variations for Curvv petrol and diesel models. The front bumper’s air intake is noticeably larger and similar to Nexon, plus it now gets faux silver skid plate both front and rear.
Moving the sides, the wing mirrors are door-mounted, and the flush door handles making it the first SUV from Tata in the segment to offer this element. In the Rear Section, the LED light bar now has a dark tint, and the connected LED Tail-lamps gets production-ready elements. The air inlets on the rear bumper are positioned vertically to house additional reflectors. Overall, this new reveal of the Curvv SUV confirms it’ll get 360 Surround View Camera, connected LED DRLs, vertically split LED Headlamps, and 18-inch Alloy Wheels; at least for the top trims.

Tata Motors reveals the dimension of the Curvv SUV at the Expo. The SUV measures 4308 MM in length, 1810 MM in width, and 1630 MM in height along with a wheelbase of 2560 MM, and a good usable boot space of 422 L. This makes the SUV fall behind its main rivals – Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, and Hyryder in dimensions as they’re way more roomier and spacious; but still ahead of the VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq in the segment.

Jumping to the Engine Options, the SUV is slated to get multiple powertrains, but first lets talk about the ICE version. So, the ICE version will get two Engine Option – 1.2 L Direct Injection Turbo Petrol which produces 123.29 BHP and 225 NM of torque and its likely transmission choices would be the 6 Speed Manual, and 7 Speed DCT Gearbox. The second option is the 1.5 L Diesel Engine which is taken from the Nexon, and therefore it’ll have the same 113.31 BHP Power and 260 NM of torque paired to 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox.
Tata however, plans to launch the electric version first to get an head-start against its upcoming three rivals – Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX, and Toyota Urban EV. The EV technical details hasn’t been shared by Tata, but it’s likely dimensions will be similar to the ICE version. There is also an possibility that Tata may also introduce an CNG option for the SUV with Manual and Automatic Gearbox choices.
Lastly, as per reports, Tata will be launching the Curvv SUV in June or July 2024. It’s likely the EV will launch first followed by the ICE version launch.
