In a remarkable and inspirational story, a barber from Bangalore, Karnataka, achieved the extraordinary feat of purchasing a brand-new Rolls-Royce Ghost luxury sedan through sheer hard work and unwavering determination. This remarkable individual, Ramesh Babu, not only possesses a Rolls-Royce but also boasts an impressive collection of 378 vehicles, including approximately 120 luxury cars from esteemed manufacturers like BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Jaguar.
Ramesh Babu’s journey to acquiring a Rolls-Royce Ghost began with a challenging background. When his father, also a barber, passed away, his uncle took over the family’s barber shop. At just seven years old, Ramesh’s mother had to seek employment as a way to support the family. Meanwhile, young Ramesh took on odd jobs such as delivering newspapers and milk, earning a modest sum of Rs 100 per month.
Recognizing that these earnings, combined with his mother’s income, would not suffice, Ramesh decided to take control of the family’s barber business at the age of 18. His relentless dedication and hard work soon paid dividends as his barbershop flourished. With the additional income, Ramesh purchased a new Maruti Suzuki Omni van for his family. However, a financial setback occurred when Ramesh realized that he couldn’t manage the Rs 6,800 monthly loan payment for the Omni van. In a pivotal moment, one of his employees suggested that he rent out the van. This decision marked the beginning of Ramesh’s successful car rental venture, and he received a positive response from customers. Gradually, he expanded his fleet, acquiring more Omni vans until he owned seven.
As his barbershop and car rental businesses thrived, Ramesh ventured into the luxury car rental market. His unwavering dedication and commitment led him to amass a remarkable collection of over 378 vehicles. Operating under the banner of “Ramesh Tours and Travels,” his company has served notable celebrities like Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, as well as prominent politicians visiting Bangalore.
Among the crown jewels of his collection is the Rolls-Royce Ghost, a symbol of opulence and luxury. Ramesh rents out this Series I Rolls-Royce Ghost, finished in an elegant white hue, for a daily rate of Rs 75,000. The Series I Ghost, with an initial price of Rs 2.5 crore, features a formidable 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine generating 562 bhp of power and 780 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Today, the latest Ghost starts at Rs 6.95 crore. Ramesh’s remarkable journey from a humble barber to a luxury car rental magnate is a testament to his unwavering determination and hard work.
