A Man with his learner license drove his Maruti Swift into the pond.
Learning to drive a car in a secluded space is a common recommendation for beginners. However, it’s essential to ensure there are no nearby water bodies, as accidents can quickly turn dangerous. Recently, a learner driver lost control of his new Maruti Suzuki Swift, resulting in the vehicle accidentally accelerating into a pond. The incident took place in Jangaon, Telangana.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Plunges Into Pond in Telangana
A video capturing the moment when a brand-new Maruti Suzuki Swift plunged into a pond has surfaced on YouTube via TV5 News. The footage reveals the events leading up to the incident, as well as how the two occupants managed to escape the sinking vehicle.
According to reports, Jhonny Miya from Gudur village, Palakurthy Mandal, was practicing driving his new Swift on a Friday evening. He was accompanied by a passenger, Adam, from Ghanpur. While driving near Bathukamma Kunta, a local water body, Jhonny lost control of the vehicle after accidentally pressing the accelerator. As a result, the car surged forward, plunging straight into the pond.
How They Escaped the Sinking Swift
The video shows the terrifying moments after the Swift entered the water. Both Jhonny and Adam attempted to open the car doors to escape, but water pressure from outside made it impossible. Adam managed to open the front passenger window, allowing him to exit first, followed by Jhonny.
As they climbed out of the submerged car, onlookers on the pond’s edge watched the incident unfold. One bystander bravely jumped into the pond, swimming towards the car to assist the occupants. After a brief struggle in the water, the two men successfully made it to the pond’s edge with the bystander’s help.
Police Respond and Vehicle Recovery
Shortly after the incident, local police, including Jangaon Inspector P. Damodar and his team, arrived at the scene. They coordinated with a team operating a heavy earthmover to retrieve the new Maruti Suzuki Swift from the pond.
Important Safety Lesson for New Drivers
Learning to drive requires caution and an awareness of the surroundings. New drivers should avoid practicing near open water or other hazards that could escalate an accident. Practice in secure, open areas, and always remember that steady control is key to safe driving.
