From February 1st to 3rd, the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 will take place which will showcase some big most awaited vehicles for the Indian Market from numerous brands like Tata, Kia, Maruti, Skoda, Volkswagen, just to name a few. In this article, we’re mentioning 10 Interesting Car Debuts taking place at the BME 2024!
New Kia EV9
The EV9 measures more than 5 Meters in Length, and it’s built on their Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Kia claims the EV9 on a single charge can travel up to 541 KMs, and is offered in two variants. Globally, the Standard trim of EV9 comes with 76.1 kWh battery pack with a single motor powering the rear wheels producing 214.5 BHP and 350 NM of torque and sprints from 0 – 100 KMPH in 8.2 seconds at a 185 KMPH top speed.
Then there is the long range trim with 99.8 kWh battery pack with two drive-type options – Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) with a single motor producing 201 BHP and 350 NM torque and does 0 – 100 KMPH in 9.4 Seconds; another option is the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) with dual motor setup producing 380 BHP and 600 NM of torque and accelerates from 0 – 100 KMPH in 5.3 seconds at 200 KMPH top speed. It has features like 360 View Camera, Heated & Ventilated Seats, Powered Front Seats, Level 3 ADAS, powered tailgate, and so much more.
New 2024 Kia Carnival
The Carnival is almost like a home on wheels because of how comfortable the seats are in this MPV. It has four rows with captain seats in second-row which are similar to Kia EV9. Kia offers the Carnival with a V6 Engine internationally, while it’s possible Kia could replace the V6 Engine in India with the 2.0 L Turbo Petrol Engine, however, it’ll retain the 2.2 L Diesel Engine that it used to offer with the 3rd Gen Carnival.
The Carnival has features like dual 10.25-inch display, ventilated and heated seats, a single-pane sunroof, and a panoramic sunroof, 360 Surround View Camera, Level 2 ADAS, and so much more. The Carnival doesn’t have any direct rivals as it’s the only MPV in the segment, and it’ll continue to be the best-selling MPV in its own category. We expect to learn more about the new India-bound Carnival in the coming weeks.
New Skoda Enyaq iV
Skoda will be debuting the Enyaq iV at the BME 2024. Skoda has been testing the crossover electric SUV for quite some time, but it’ll finally make its debut in less than a week. The Enyaq iV for the Indian Market which will be first EV from the brand, and it’ll be imported to India as CBU unit. The crossover electric SUV is slightly smaller than the Skoda’s flagship three-row SUV, Kodiaq.
The Enyaq iV ’80x’ top trim was spotted testing in India which has a 77 kWh battery pack and powered by two motors, one on each axle, in total it produces 262 BHP with a claimed range of 513 KMs. The EV can sprint from 0 – 100 KMPH in 6.9 Seconds; and also supports 125 kW DC Fast Charging. Moreover, the EV is built on the VW’s MEB Platform which is shared with other brands EV’s like Audi Q4 e-tron, and Volkswagen ID.4 EV.
Mercedes-Benz EQG Concept
Mercedes-Benz India introduces the all-electric Concept EQG, set to launch later this year. The production model will retain the iconic boxy design but undergo styling changes for aerodynamics and alignment with the EQ electric range. The EQG features four individually controllable wheel-mounted motors, a 2-speed gearbox, and a battery integrated into the ladder-frame for a low center of gravity. The quad-motor powertrain aims to outperform the V8-powered AMG G63, achieving 0-100kph in less than 4.5 seconds. Additionally, the EQG boasts a unique G-Turn function for a 360-degree tank turn, controlled by paddleshifters on the steering wheel.
Hyundai Nexo
The Hyundai Nexo is a hydrogen fuel cell powered crossover SUV. It comes equipped with a 95 kW fuel-cell stack and a 40-kWh battery pack that powers a 159 BHP Electric Motor with 291 NM of torque. The motor powers the front wheels through a single-speed gearbox. The Nexo’s hydrogen fuel cell engine generates electricity by mixing oxygen with compressed hydrogen to create a flow of electrons. The fuel cell system also charges the 1.56kWh high voltage battery. The Nexo has a claimed range of 600 KMs. It is all set to debut at the BME 2024 between February 1st and 3rd.
Tata Curvv SUV
Tata Curvv has been testing the Curvv for a while and it looks almost same as the concept like vertically split headlamps, sloping coupe-like roofline that joins into the connected taillamps. Moreover, it’ll have new aero-efficient 18-inch alloy wheels and skid plates for the bumpers. From the inside, the Curvv gets a three-layer dashboard with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Cluster, 2-spoke steering wheel with Tata logo illumination, touch-sensitive controls for the HVAC, and new leather seat upholstery.
However, the ICE version will come with the 1.2 L Turbo Petrol engine producing 123.29 BHP paired to 6 Speed Manual and likely an DCT Gearbox. The other option is the 1.5 L Diesel engine producing 113.42 BHP and this is paired to 6 Speed Manual & Automatic Gearbox. In Features, it’ll have ventilated seats, 360 Surround View camera, Electric Parking Brake with auto hold, Electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, air purifier, Heads-up Display, flush door handles, and so much more.
Tata Altroz Racer
Tata Altroz Racer was spotted testing. The vehicle was fully wrapped in camouflage, concealing any external branding or markings that might directly indicate it as the Altroz Racer. However, a handwritten ‘Racer’ label on the engine is a noteworthy detail that doesn’t appear to be a mere coincidence. Moreover, the vehicle’s interior revealed the presence of a 6-speed gearbox.
The Altroz Racer at the Auto Expo 2023 was equipped with a 1.2 L 3 Cylinder Turbo Petrol engine producing 118.35 BHP and 170 NM of torque. The Racer variant promises to have a significant impact on the overall driving experience, and possibly achieve 0 – 100 KMPH acceleration in less than 10 seconds. The Altroz Racer will have features like ventilated seats, 10.25-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit cluster, 360 Surround View Camera and many more.
The Altroz Racer will compete with the recently facelifted Hyundai i20 N-Line in the hot hatch segment.
Tata Harrier.ev
Tata confirmed the Harrier EV will be present at the Expo. The Tata Harrier EV design from the outside looks the same to the ICE version. Tata had unveiled the Harrier EV at the Auto Expo 2023 with closed front grille and 3 horizontal slats. Notably, Tata was endorsing the Harrier.ev with 4×4 capability while the ICE Harrier wasn’t.
The EV design are similar to the ICE version like the S-style LED taillamps, but, it’ll gets different alloy wheel design for the 19-inch alloy wheels to improve aerodynamic efficiency, and also help with range. The cabin will be the same as the ICE version such as the 12.3-inch infotainment, 10.25-inch digital cluster, 4-spoke steering wheel with Tata logo illumination, touch-sensitive controls for climate control, panoramic sunroof, and more.
The electric SUV is also expected to be built on the new Acti.ev platform which is capable of giving as much as 600 KMs. So, it is likely the EV will be equipped with a battery pack between 50 – 60 kWh to offer this much features and power, and at the same time it may be sold with dual-motor setup only since it’ll also be doing off-roading. In features, it’ll get new rotary dial for 4×4 drive select, and traction control modes. Other than it won’t get any new features.
Maruti Suzuki eVX (Expected: Late 2024)
The Maruti Suzuki eVX debuted at the Auto Expo 2023 last year and now it’ll be present at the BME 2024 with an updated near-production concept similar to the version seen at the Tokyo Motor Show 2023. The 5-Seater Electric SUV comes with new connected X LED DRLs, LED headlamps underneath the DRLs, chunky bumpers, new aero-efficient alloy wheels, and connected X LED Taillamps. The interiors features dual-tone dashboard, seamlessly integrated 10.25-inch displays for infotainment system, and digital instrument cluster.
Moreover, in features, it’ll get 360 Surround View Camera, ADAS, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Powered Driver Seat, Panoramic Sunroof, and so much. It’s also worth noting that the eVX will come with 4×4 drive type to have the SUV capable for off-roading.
Toyota Urban Electric SUV (Expected: Late 2024)
Toyota had confirmed it’ll be debuting the Urban Electric SUV concept at Expo. First of all, anyone who notices the EV will come to know that its a rebadge Maruti Suzuki eVX. The front profile of the SUV will be similar to its Crown SUV (sold internationally) while rear resembles the Maruti eVX. It’s expected Toyota will also offer single and dual-motor configuration in two-battery packs and claim range of around 550 KMs. Toyota is expected to reveal the production version of the SUV in mid 2024 with launch taking place in the late 2024.
It’ll have features like dual-screen 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system, and digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, electric parking brake with auto hold, 360 Surround View Camera, 6 Airbags, Front and Rear Airbags, Powered Driver Seat, panoramic sunroof, and so much more. It’s also possible that it may come with 4×4 off-road capabilities.
