Maruti Suzuki continues to be in top 10 cars with 6 models in June 2023, while Hyundai and Tata has 2 models in the top 10!
For Maruti Suzuki, looks like June 2023 is nothing different for them compared to previous months as it continues to have a strong hold on car sales in India. It has six models in top 10 in June 2023 while Hyundai and Tata has 2 only two models in the top 10 line-up.
Top 10 Car Sales in June 2023
At first position is the Maruti hatchback, WagonR, that dominated the car sales in June 2023 with 17,481 unit sales which is down by 8.91% year-on-year from the 19,190 unit in June 2022 with reduction in volume by 1,709 units. Just like WagonR, the Swift is at 2nd position with 15,955 unit sales in June 2023 with 1.59% year-on-year decline from the 16,213 units in June 2023 and reduction in volume by 258 units. Maruti is currently working on launching the next generation update of Swift that is expected to launch in 2024 with petrol-hybrid powertrain.
At third position is the Hyundai Creta with 14,447 unit sales over the 13,790 unit sales in June 2022 with year-on-year growth by 4.76% and volume growth by 657 units. Hyundai was spotted testing the Creta facelift in India that will have front face similar to the Hyundai Verna and is expected to launch in February 2024. Next is the Maruti’s Premium hatchback, Baleno, that reports 14,077 unit sales which is decline in numbers from the 16,103 units in June 2022 with year-on-year decline by 12.58% and volume reduction by 2,026 units.

At 5th position is the Tata Nexon with 13,827 units in June 2023 which is less compared to 14,295 units in June 2022 with 3.27% decline year-on-year and reduction in volume by 468 units. Tata Nexon is expected to get facelift update in August 2023 with production rumored to begin from this month. Next is the Hyundai Venue at 6th position with 11,606 units over the 10,321 units in June 2022 with year-on-year growth by 12.45% and volume growth by 1,285 units. At 7th position is Maruti model, Alto with 11,323 units in June 2023 over the 13,790 units in June 2022 which is decline in sales by 17.89% and decline in volume by 2,467 units.
Next is the Tata Punch, an alternate to Nexon SUV with sales of 10,990 units in June 2023 which is up by 5.53% year-on-year over the 10,414 units in June 2022 and increase in volume by 576 units. At 9th position is the Maruti Brezza with 10,578 units which is an increase in growth by 140.19% year-on-year over the 4,404 units in June 2022 with volume growth by 6,174 units. At last position is the Maruti Grand Vitara with 10,486 unit sales and there is no sales data available for last year as Grand Vitara was launched in September 2022 and because of that it wasn’t available.
