Toyota Car Sales in May 2023

Toyota Glanza was second best-selling model.

Toyota reported 19,379 unit sales in May 2023 with 89.69% growth over the last year same period.

Toyota reported cumulative domestic sales of May 2023 and it has done 19,379 units which is up by 89.69% from the 10,216 units in May 2022.

Toyota has recorded 19,379 units in May 2023 finishing at 5th position on the overall manufacturer’s sales table. Toyota had 8 models on sales in May 2023 – Innova (HyCross and Crysta), Glanza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Fortuner, Hilux, Camry, Vellfire, and Urban Cruiser. Toyota recent launch was the Innova HyCross in January 2023 and had also launched a facelift update for the Innova Crysta in January as well with booking and deliveries started from March 2023.

The Innova which is combined sales numbers of HyCross and Crysta was at first position for Toyota in May 2023 with sales of 7,776 units which is up by 184.11% from the 2,737 units in May 2022, and month-on-month sales is also up by 60.76% from the 4,837 unit sales in April 2023. Toyota’s recent new launch was the HyCross with some new features like the ADAS, ventilated seats, captain seats in second row with ottoman function, powered tailgate, and so much more.

At 2nd position is the Glanza with sales of 5,179 units in May 2023 which is up by 75.44% from the 2,952 units sales in May 2022, and the month-on-month sales is also up by 41.77% from the 3,653 units in April 2023. The Glanza is just a rebadged Maruti Baleno with features like Heads-up Display (HUD), 360-degree camera, paddle shifters, and many more. At third position is the Urban Cruiser Hyryder with sales 3,090 units in May 2023 over the 2,616 units in April 2023 with month-on-month sales up by 18.12%. The Hyryder is a rebadged mid-size SUV from the Maruti which has strong-hybrid tech with ventilated seats feature for front driver and passengers, 360-degree camera, auto climate control, and so much more.

Up next is the Toyota Fortuner at 4th position with sales of 2,887 units in May 2023 from the 1,184 units in May 2022 which is up by 143.83% and the month-on-month sales is also up by 11.99% from the 2,578 units in April 2023. Toyota is currently testing the new Fortuner that is scheduled for launch in 2024 and is expected to bring for the first time, a diesel-hybrid powertrain, and new exterior and interior design with few new features.

Next is the Hilux pick-up truck with 300 units sales in May 2023 that is up by 361.54% from the 65 units in May 2022, and month-on-month sales is also up by 11.52% from the 269 units in April 2023. At 6th position is the Camry with 142 units in May 2023 against the 106 units in May 2022 which is 33.96% year-on-year growth and month-on-month growth is up by125.40% from the 63 units in April 2023. At last position is the Vellfire with 5 units sales in May 2023 which is down by 88.64% from the 44 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month sales is down by 96.58% from the 146 units in April 2023.
