Toyota Rumion vs Maruti Ertiga – Wait For Rumion or Buy Ertiga?

Toyota Rumion against the Maruti Ertiga!

Toyota Kirloskar has officially launched the rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Rumion MUV, that measures almost the same in dimensions, and everything else. So, why don’t we compare the two against each other and find out what’s the main difference between the two MUV?

Toyota Rumion vs Maruti Ertiga – Design

From the outside, the Toyota Rumion at the front has few cuts on the bonnet, front grille has small hexagonal pattern with chrome around the grille and Toyota logo at the center. The headlamps will be halogen and below that will be LED fog lamps, and there is more chrome below the big grille. From the side, the body has cuts and creases same as the Ertiga, 15-inch alloy wheels with new design, and chrome door handles. Moving to the rear, the design will be same as the Ertiga like the L-shaped LED taillamps, and rear wiper on the rear windscreen.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga from the outside has few cuts on the bonnet, L-design chrome on the front grille with Suzuki logo at the center, and Halogen headlamps, and below that is the LED fog lamps. Moving to the side, it has cuts and creases on the body for a aggressive look, chrome door handles, and rides on 15-inch alloy wheels. The doors are big enough for passengers to enter and exit very easily. At the rear, it has rear wiper on the windscreen, and LED taillamps with little cuts on the body.

As for the Maruti Ertiga, it has an 7-inch infotainment system placed between the AC vents and the AC vents at the sides are in rectangle shape that is positioned horizontally to blend with the dashboard design. It has dual-tone dashboard design option as well. The Ertiga has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with analog instrument cluster and a TFT display between the two analog dials, and the pedals are finished in black color. It has an armrest that doesn’t slide and fabric seat upholstery. Moving to the second row, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio and the AC vents is placed on the roof. The third row seats are split in 50:50 ratio and the Ertiga has a 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system.

For the Rumion, the interior will remain the same as the Ertiga nothing different.

When it comes to Dimensions, the Rumion measures 4490mm in length which is 25mm longer than the Ertiga’s 4395mm length. Rest all the dimensions remains the sames like the 1735mm width, 1690mm in height, wheelbase of 2740mm, 185mm ground clearance, boot space of 209 litres, Petrol Fuel Tank of 45 litres, and 60 litres of CNG Cylinder. But when it comes to Kerb weight, the Rumion weighs 1250 kg which is 5 kg lighter than the Ertiga’s 1255 kg kerb weight, and the gross weight of both the MUV is same, 1820 kg.

In Engine Options, the Toyota Rumion will have the same powertrain as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The 1.5-litre K15C Smart Hybrid Petrol Engine that puts out 101.65 bhp and 136.8 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed Manual Gearbox with 20.51 kmpl fuel efficiency and 6-speed Automatic Gearbox with 20.3 kmpl fuel efficiency.

Other than the Petrol engine, the Rumion and the Ertiga has one more fuel option, and that is the CNG fuel option. The 1.5-litre K15C CNG puts out 86.63 bhp and 121.5 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed Manual Gearbox with 26.11 km/kg.

The Maruti Ertiga is priced at Rs. 8.64 lakh for the base ‘LXI’ variant and goes up to Rs. 13.08 lakh for the top variant, ‘ZXI Plus Automatic.’ The Toyota Rumion however is expected to start at Rs. 8.90 lakh, but Toyota revealed the Rumion will be available in three variants – S, G, and V.

As for the warranty, the Toyota Rumion has a warranty period of 3 years/1,00,000 km that can be extended up to 5 years/2,20,000 km and Maruti Ertiga has a warranty period of 2 years/40,000 km that can be extended up to 5 years/1,00,000 km.

In the end, the decision to buy which MUV depends totally on you, however, if you’re thinking, whether to wait until September 2023 for the Toyota Rumion launch or buy the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, well, you can go ahead and buy the Ertiga as the Rumion is just a rebadged Ertiga with all the same features, fuel efficiency, powertrain, and spacious-ness.
