Mahindra and Mahindra are really popular for their SUVs and the next couple of years for the carmakers is all about updating the current SUV stock as well as electrifying them as well. Here is a complete list of upcoming Mahindra Cars in India in 2020-21:
1. Mahindra XUV300 Sportz

Mahindra XUV300 currently has two engine options – one petrol and one diesel and both of theme have the best torque figures in the segment and the automakers showcased their even more powerful petrol variant of XUV300 at the Auto Expo 2020, which will be called XUV300 Sportz.
- Mahindra XUV300 Sportz will be powered by 1.2-litre T-GDi mStallion 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine which will churn 128 BHP an 230 NM of maximum torque which translates into 20 BHP more power and 30 NM better torque than the 1.2 litre petrol variant on offer.
- Transmission option includes 6 speed manual gearbox and AMT will be introduced a couple of months later. With increase in numbers, fuel efficiency will go down from 17 kmpl to 16.5 kmpl. The other BS 6 engines will be offered along with this new unit.
Ford Ecosport BS 6 has lost 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine and Mahindra will share this engine with the former which will act as a replacement for the earlier 3 cylinder mill of the Ecosport.
The exterior of XUV300 Sportz gets the body graphics while on the inside, instead of dual tone black and beige seat upholstery, company will give it all black interiors with contrasting red stitching to enhance sportiness.
Mahindra XUV300 Turbo Sportz will be offered in single variant based on the top petrol model (W8(O)) with Rs. 50,000 premium price over the regular petrol trim taking the ex showroom price to Rs. 12.34 Lakhs.
Earlier expected to join the XUV300 lineup in April 2020, the introduction got delayed due to coronavirus pandemic and now the automakers will bring the Sportz variant of XUV300 in India in July 2020.
2. Mahindra New Thar

The launch of second generation Mahindra Thar has been confirmed for festive season 2020. The delay in the introduction has come due to the pandemic. New generation of the top sales churner of the automakers skipped the biennial event held at Greater Noida back in February 2020.
Although it carries the same design language as the ongoing variant but the addition will be new LED headlamp which are circular like before and upfront grille is in 7 slats. Also the alloys wheels which are 5-spoke 18 inchers are also newly designed. Coming to the rear, the tail lights is LED.
2020 Thar gets a completely overhauled interior with new layout for the dashboard and there is a sense of premiumness inside. Instrument cluster is complexity new with a digital display in the centre with an analogue dial on either side.
For the first time, Mahindra Thar will also get front facing seats. The Mahindra off roader will be available with the option of both hard top as well as soft top grades.
Top features includes automatic air conditioning, touchscreen infotainment system with apple CarPlay, android auto, LED headlamps, daytime running lamps and tail lights, multiple charging ports, power adjustable ORVMs, power windows, cruise controls.
Safety equipment will be more than before as the list includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, high speed alert system among others. It will build on the improved version of ladder frame chassis.
There will be petrol and Diesel engine on offer, both of them being compliant to Bharat Stage 6. Below are the engine specifications:
- Mahindra Thar will get 2.2 litre mHawk Diesel engine with 140 BHP and 320 NM of maximum torque. It will have 6 speed manual with 4×4 option as well as Aisin sourced 6 speed torque converter automatic.
- 2.0 litre all new TGDI mStallion engine showcased at Auto Expo 2020 belts out 187 BHP and 380 NM of peak torque. Like the diesel, Mahindra will make it available with 6 speed manual gearbox at hate time of launch with automatic transmission planned for 2021.
Currently priced between Rs. 9.6 Lakhs and Rs. 9.99 Lakhs, New gen Mahindra Thar is expected to be introduced at the same price for the base petrol trim with around Rs. 11.7 Lakhs for the top end diesel all wheel drive trims.
When launched, Thar will find competition with Force Gurkha and will be joined mid next year by Maruti’s Jimny which is quite popular in the international markets.

Mahindra XUV500 was launched in India back in 2011 with a facelift introduced in 2018. It has been going really great since its launch but from the past couple of years the sales have drastically reduced with a number of SUVs entering in this segment with more tech on board at a competitive pricing.
Since the design of XUV500 has started to age, the domestic carmakers will give it a generation change which will be launched nearly 10 years from the the launch of first gen of the Mahindra XUV500.
2021 Mahindra XUV500 has been seen testing a couple of times from the interior as well as exterior with heavy camouflage. Headlamps, tail lamp unit is all new and completely LED. The front grille looks pretty sharp and will ride on the same size of alloys with modern styling.
It is the cabin of the XUV500 which will be completely new. XUV500 in 2021 will get all digital instrument cluster and it will be a dual screen setup like the Kia Seltos with XUV500 boasting around 10-inch infotainment system for the top spec trims. Steering wheel is not typical Mahindra and is a flat bottomed unit.
Mahindra & Mahindra will also alter the seat fabrics and design as well as comfort of the seats as well. Thanks to increase in dimensions over the present gen of XUV500, the legroom and headroom for the second an third row passengers will be more than before.
Top features of current spec XUV500 are Arkmays sound system, electrically foldable ORVMs, push button start, keyless entry, 7-inch infotainment system, LED DRLs, ambient lighting, Arkmays sound system, Electric Sunroof, powered driver seat, leather seat upholstery.
New features that 2021 Mahindra XUV500 (Codenamed W601) will have apart from the existing features are ventilated and powered driver and co-driver seat, panoramic sunroof, heads up display, digital instrument cluster, 10-inch touchscreen setup with all the modern connectivity options, connected car technology, dual zone auto ac, hands free tailgate.
Top safety features that the first gen XUV500 offers are 6 airbags, ESP, TCS, HLA, Hill descent control, TPMS, Rain Sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, rear parking camera, front fog lamps, auto dimming inside rear view mirror, all four disc brakes.
XUV500 will have much more safety equipment on board than before to better compete with the car at this price tag. New safety features are 360 degree camera, electric parking brake, heated ORVMs among others. It will be built on all new and modern platform, the details for which will be revealed during the time of launch which will take place in India in Q1 2021.
Unlike the present generation of Mahindra XUV500 which comes with just 2.2 litre diesel engine, the next generation of the SUV with couple of seating options will have 2.0 litre petrol and diesel mills:
The 2.0 litre T-GDi mStallion 4 cylinder petrol gasoline puts out 187 BHP and 380 NM of maximum power. It will get 6 speed manual as well as 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox right from the day of launch.
2.0 litre new turbocharged Diesel engine will also be available as they are also offered in Scorpio and Thar but will have much higher power and torque output. As compared to 140 BHP unit of Thar an 160 BHP of New Scorpio, New XUV500 belts out 185 BHP with around 370 to 380 NM of peak torque. It will come paired with manual (6 Speed MT) and automatic (6 Speed AT) transmissions.
Mahindra XUV500 (1st generation) is priced between Rs. 13.2 Lakhs and Rs. 17.7 Lakhs for the 2WD variants available with Diesel engine. With the availability of petrol engine, the base price will go down by around Rs. 1 lakh.
We can expect the second generation Mahindra XUV500 to be launched at a introductory price of Rs. 12.5 Lakhs with the end model with all the bells and whistles costing Rs. 18.7 Lakhs.

Mahindra Scorpio has been in the market since 2002 and from then only the 1st generation of Scorpio is running with mullet facelift and updates over the years. And after 19 years, the off roader will get a generation update.
Mahindra Scorpio will be available with all new petrol and diesel engines. Currently offered with 2.2-litre Diesel engine, New Scorpio’s 2.0 L diesel unit will replace the current 2.2 L powertrain.
- The 2.0 L mStallion petrol engine available with 6 speed manual and 6 speed torque converter automatic generates power and torque of 187 BHP and 380 NM of maximum torque.
- 2.0 L turbo Diesel engine will come as replacement for the 2.2-litre unit with 6 speed MT and 6 Speed AT. The power churned is 160 BHP while the toque output will be massive 350 NM. All wheel drive system is confirmed to be on offer as it remains in demand.
With increase in dimensions including the length, width, height, ground clearance, boot capacity and wheelbase, the space inside the cabin will also increase which will accommodate more space for the rear occupants. Mahindra Scorpio won’t get the side facing 3rd row seat options.
It will get a completely overhauled exterior design with set of new headlamps, sharper front grille and tweaked front and rear bumpers. Window area is quite large in size as well.
The cabin will get really premium with borrowing of elements from Alturas G4 and Mahindra Marazzo, plus the advantage of keeping the cost competitive. Steering wheel, instrument panel and the climate control unit is paired with the Marazzo MPV while the 8-inch infotainment system for higher trims comes from the flagship SUV, Alturas G4. A smaller 5-inch system will be available for the basic versions.Dual tone black and beige interior seat upholstery will be available.
Top new features that the Scorpio will get are drive modes, heads up display, 8-inch infotainment system with apple CarPlay, android auto., mirror link, auto foldable wing mirrors, 4 speakers + 4 tweeters (Arkmays sound), push button start, telescopic steering and electric sunroof.
Top safety equipment of Scorpio includes rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, rear parking camera with multi view and adaptive guidelines. Mahindra will provide additional safety with features including 6 airbags, front parking sensors, auto dimming IRVM. It will be base on the modified version of Zen3 body on ladder frame.
2020 Mahindra Scorpio is priced between Rs. 12.4 Lakhs to Rs. 16 Lakhs for the 2WD 2.2 L diesel trims of Scorpio while the second generation Scorpio (codenamed Z101) will have a introductory price of Rs. 11.5 Lakhs with the range topping version costing around Rs. 17.2 Lakhs (Ex Showroom).
