Taigun SUV from the carmakers is one of the much awaited car to be launched in the country in 2021 and surely so much interest people are showing in the car since its a really strong product and it has to be to deal with competitors like Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.

The SUV will be launched under the VW-Skoda’s ‘India 2.0’ strategy in which the cost of the cars with the badge of either of the carmakers will be priced competitively thanks to high localisation which in return will bring the service and maintenance cost as well.

Exteriors 

The Taigun looks more of a crossover than a SUV. Upfront it gets big projector headlamp unit with with thick strip of daytime running lamp which does integrates which the two slat front grille.

Thick chrome bar runs at the lower bumper also acting as a surround for the fog lights. Front and rear bumper hoses houses skid plates. Sharp and strong character lines runs across the bonnet and the sides.

While the wheel arch cladding is in piano black finish, for the sides, cladding is in black with silver size beading. Roof rails are in silver finish as well. A unique pattern can be seen on the space between rear window an D-Pillar.

The major highlight of the SUV is connected C-shaped LED headlamps and whats smart of Volkswagen is that the chrome bar at the lower end syncs with the shape of those beautifully sculpted tail lamps.

Interiors

Once you enter the cabin, you will notice that it looks quite similar to T-Roc while differences are for the steering wheel design along with use of green inserts all over the cabin. VW has also modified the interior theme to differentiate it from VW T-Roc.

  • VW Taigun will be powered by 1.5-litre petrol engine which belts out 148 BHP and 250 NM of peak torque. 7 Speed DSG gearbox will be available as standard which delivers 16 kmpl of certified mileage. Top Spec of Taigun is rated at 183 kmph and it sprints from 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds.
  • 1.0-litre 3 cylinder unit (115 BHP / 200 NM) will have the option of 6 Speed manual and 6 Speed torque converter automatic. This engine options of Taigun will remain limited to the lower trims.
  • After a few months of launch, carmakers will bring in CNG variant based on 1.5-litre petrol engine with slightly less power and torque figures.

Launch Date

The launch date of Volkswagen Taigun in the country is unaffected due to coronavirus and will be launched as planned earlier. The VW SUV will hit the showrooms by May 2021.

Volkswagen ID. Crozz is an Electric concept SUV which is part of carmaker’s I.D clan. For the first time, it was showcased at the as a prototype at 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.

1. Exterior

Upfront, ID. Crozz features connected LED Projector headlamps with thick LED DRLs. 21-inch wheels, contrasting roof and spoiler are certain other highlights. The pattern of LED elements inside the tail lamps looks stylish and has a huge rear bumper.

2. Interior

4. Battery / Range

Initially ID.4 will get a rear wheel drive model with output figures of 201 BHP and 310 NM of peak torque. With a 83 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack, it will offer a range upto 500 km and supports fast charging which can juice upto 80% of battery with 125-150 kWh system in just 30 minutes.

After a couple of months, the carmakers will also bring powerful twin motor variant with four wheel drive system. IT will have an additional front mounted motor with power and torque of 101 BHP and 140 NM, taking the figures to 302 BHP and 450 NM.

5. Price

Volkswagen will price the ID. Crozz at a premium tag since it will imported from Germany where it is manufactured along with ID.3 EV hatchback. Expected price of VW ID. Crozz in India is Rs. 35 Lakhs and Rs. 40 Lakhs (Ex Showroom).

6. Rivals

VW ID. Crozz will launch in India in the electric SUV segment and join the likes of Hyundai Kona and MG ZS electric.

7. Launch Date 

Volkswagen ID. Crozz electric SUV is expected to hit the VW showrooms in the second half of 2021, most probably in the month of August.

Volkswagen also claims that you’ll be breathing clean air in the ID.Crozz thanks to the CleanAir system. There is also a new voice assistant capable of opening and closing doors. You can even deactivate the auto pilot system via voice commands

Volkswagen Vento has got updated a couple of times with mild facelift being introduced after a short span of time but it will finally undergo a complete change in 2021.

1. Exterior

2021 New Vento will derive styling from the Virtus. Current spec Vento looks dated and will get the halogen unit replace by LED projector lights which are integrated within a more sharp and sleek unit.

The single slat grille replacing the 2020 Vento’s three slat sleek lines give the new Vento a cleaner look. Fog lights will be LED. Sporty lower end of the bumper houses air intakes for better aerodynamic stability.

10-spoke alloys are gone and here comes 5-spoke newly designed sharper alloys. Character lines flows along the sides and goes upto the tail lamps. Horizontal edgy LED tail lamps comes in place of the old unit. Rear profile is derived from Passat sedan.

2. Interior 

Once your enter the cabin, you will be greeted by completely revamped interiors. Steering wheel unit is all new while the old analog instrument panel is gone. 8-inch infotainment system makes use of touch buttons and is a free standing unit on the dash.

Everything is more oriented toward the driver while providing a premium experience for the other occupants in the car. While inside door handles looks pretty same, climate control unit and ac vents are tweaked to keep it up-to-date.

With the 2nd gen Vento to be launched under the ‘India 2.0’ strategy which will bring down the cost of vehicle thanks to high localisation, the carmakers are expected to price the new sedan between Rs. 8.8 Lakhs and Rs. 13.5 Lakhs (Ex showroom).

7. Launch Date

Volkswagen India will bring Vento in India in the second half of 2020. As per the latest news, 2021 VW Vento will rekindle its rivalry with the segment rulers in November 2020.

8. Rivals

At the time of launch, VW Vento will take on Hyundai Verna, Honda City, New gen Skoda Rapid, Maruti Ciaz and Toyota Yaris.
