The Carens from Kia is becoming very popular in India, giving tough competition to cars like the Maruti Ertiga. Its sales have been steady every month. To keep up this success, Kia has decided to introduce new automatic variants and manual diesel variants for the Carens, along with adding new features to existing models.

Previously, there were 23 different versions of the Carens available, but now there are 30. The major addition is the option for a diesel manual gearbox in variants like Premium, Premium (O), Prestige, Prestige+, Luxury, and Luxury+. Additionally, some variants like Prestige+ (O) now come with a 7-speed petrol DCT and diesel automatic transmission (AT).
Some notable new features include a panoramic sunroof, LED map lights, and LED roof lights for the Prestige+ (O) trim. The Prestige (O) trim gets smart key with push-button start and passive entry, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED tail-lights, leatherette-wrapped gear lever, and more. The Premium (O) variant offers an 8-inch infotainment system, shark fin antenna, steering-mounted controls, a burglar alarm, and the choice between a 6 or 7-seater layout.
The top-spec X-Line variant gets added features like one-touch up/down for all windows with voice commands, a dashcam, and a 180W charger replacing the previous 120W charger.
The Carens has gone up with the base variant now starting from Rs. 10.52 Lakh going all the way up to Rs. 19.67 Lakh for the top-spec trim. The MPV rivals Maruti Ertiga and XL6, Hyundai Alcazar, Toyota Rumion and Innova Crysta.
