The Mahindra Thar Roxx has stirred high demand, leading to substantial waiting periods across its variants, particularly for 4WD models and automatic transmissions. While most customers are looking at delivery timelines between late 2024 and mid-2026, Mahindra aims to reduce these waits by boosting Roxx production to 7,500 units per month by November end.
According to Mahindra dealers, current Roxx deliveries focus primarily on the AX5, AX7L, and MX5 variants. Most of these are manual transmission models, with an estimated delivery timeline ranging from late 2024 to early 2025. Customers opting for the Roxx 4WD variant featuring the ivory interior theme can expect deliveries between early to mid-2025.
For those selecting the Roxx 4WD with the mocha brown interior theme, the waiting period is notably longer, with tentative deliveries scheduled between mid-2025 and May 2026, marking a possible wait of up to 18 months. A similar waiting period applies to Roxx 2WD higher variants equipped with automatic transmissions.
To streamline the delivery process, Mahindra communicates the estimated timelines directly with customers, who are advised to promptly inform their dealerships upon receiving this communication. This enables the dealer to actively coordinate with Mahindra to expedite the process according to the communicated timeline.
If a customer does not notify the dealer, the dealer will wait for official confirmation from Mahindra before proceeding. Following confirmation, the dealer will contact the customer. If no response is received within a week, the slot may be reassigned to the next customer in line. To avoid this, customers are encouraged to promptly notify their dealers upon receiving the initial delivery schedule from Mahindra.
To address the extended waiting period, Mahindra has announced a ramp-up in production of the Roxx. By the end of November, Roxx production is expected to rise to 7,500 units per month. This increased capacity should gradually reduce the backlog, making delivery timelines more manageable for upcoming orders.
With production enhancements, the 3-door Thar now has a waiting period of just 2-3 months for most variants. The Thar 4×4 top-spec hard-top petrol and convertible models have up to a 3-month wait, while diesel hard-top variants currently have a slightly shorter wait of just over 2 months. Thar 4×2 diesel variants also have an approximate 2-month waiting period, while petrol 4×2 variants have a slightly longer wait of just over 2 months.
In summary, Mahindra is proactively working to reduce the delivery timelines for both the Mahindra Thar Roxx and 3-door Thar models.
